What I want to see in Rebellion

Two things:

1.  "Over the top" ultimate techs.  When I say "over the top," I don't mean imbalanced or OP.  I simply mean something "larger than life," something that gets blood pumping to the penis more than a new ship type or ability or whatever.

EXAMPLE:  Vasari ultimate techs.  First one allows phase jumping starbases.  Second one removes constraints on the number of starbases allowed in a gravity well, so that the vasari could actually phase jump several starbases into the same target grav well.

(I can already hear people screaming over this proposal, but again, there is no such thing as imbalanced or OP by definition.  Simply give the other sides the means to properly counter such beasts, and give the other sides similar cool and powerful ultimate techs.)

2.  Balance.  As old-timers know, this game was never properly balanced.  I would like to see more of a commitment from the devs to balancing this upcoming version of the game.  I own all versions of the game, but will not be buying this expansion until after it is released and I see what level of support in terms of balancing the devs give to it.  It is ridiculous that lrm spam is still dominant years after release, cap ships have issues, etc.

not totally sure if lrm spam is "dominant"... and not totally sure what you mean by cap ships having issues.

i do think that more resources should be spent on balancing, I think a beta turny, like what starcraft 2 did, would be a great and cheap way to allow the devs to see how things are all currently working out.

This sort of thing would be best tested in a mod.

So, Agent, did you ever buy Diplomacy and are you going to log onto ICO and play again?

ya... at the moment, upgradeing to diplomacy is essencentually free, due to the 10 buck discount you will get on rebellion.

Two VERY SIMPLE feature requests in case the developers are reading here...

Provide:

  • A switch too change the opacity and color of phase lanes.
  • An on/off switch for the star cloud halo effect when zoomed out on map.

Both these effects can interfere on certain maps and I'd think it would be an easy tweak.

Thanks!

Yeah, bit the bullet and bought it a long time ago.  I didn't buy it because I liked the concept or what it had to offer.  I bought it simply for "support" (i.e. patches for the game for another year or so).  Unfortunately, the game wasn't patched much since Diplomacy, and the patches still didn't address balance issues, rather they simply rearranged balance issues.

Haven't logged into ICO since last year, just seemed multiplayer up and died sometime around Starcraft release, maybe before?  Unless you tell me online player counts have come back?

Second question - have a lot of the ... let's just say "people with poor behavior" been thinned out with dropping player counts?

Thanks.

The player counts are low but there are normally a couple 4v4 or 5v5 games every day on the Diplomacy expansion.  The players are still about the same mix of people you see in all online multiplayer games.
