Okay so its been a LONG time since i've posted on the forum. so to anyone i know i say HI! anyway, i have absolutely no capabilities in creating widgets, WB's, or any of that but i can picture stuff i think would work well and give ideas. so here goes for one idea i've had.

it would be either for object dock or for desktop X but i'm thinking more for Desktop X do to the functionality of the idea.

it would be on button that when clicked would have ~15 bottons spiral around it. kind of like a ammonite's shell (prehistoric squid)

now when you were not clicking this button those 15 added buttons would be hidden and you would just have that button.

i came up with this idea as kinda a one stop shop for all your primary games or programs you would use on your computer. also i'd like to see the same kind of basic icon functionality as object dock has where you could change the icons and bind whatever icons you use to whatever .exe or program you want that way the end user can change what programs he has on his "dock"

i have no clue what to call this nor do i know how to make it into reality but i think it would be a cool and innovative widget that would be very useful for those of us who use multiple primary programs/games but want as minimalistic of a desktop as possible and don't want the start menu any longer.

so if anyone thinks they are up to the task and can see my vision i'd love for someone to try and make this.

Could be done easily. Unless by spiral you mean animated.

the 3 ideas you gave uvah are close but not quite there. now maybe i'm wrong but the icons don't change where they are. what i mean is that you don't even see the icons until you click on the main button. think 1 button on your desktop solid black, blue, gray, rainbow...whatever, but when you click it a bunch of buttons show up in spiral design coming out of it or a circle or whatever *i like the spiral design due to the fact that it shows the main button as a starting point "its aesthetically appealing to me that way"* but once you've clicked whatever program's button you wanna use say for instance rift or world of warcraft or even ms word the spiral hides back inside the main button kinda like when you right click your desktop and you get your menu and it stays there until you make your selection or click elsewhere. same idea but only for programs.

the main reason i want this or think people would like it is to get away from having to sift through your programs in your start bar. i like object dock don't get me wrong but its very linear. i thought this would give people a second option and since that's kinda what desktopx's widgets are all about i thought hey lets see if anyone can make this. :)

by the way the second link was the closest that i could tell to what i was thinking though i'm going to download them and try them to see what exactly they are like.
