Looking for a particular skin

does this description sound familiar?

Hi, all;

Within the last week, I downloaded a skin that I fell in love with.  I eventually obtained a trial copy of software that would open it, but that process took several tries.  Finally, though, I did open it.  Now, I don't remember which of those new apps opened it, nor what it was called, nor even it's file format except that it was new to me, and not a psf.

Let me try to describe it.  It was kind of a steampunk theme with dark turquoise, dark grey, and a very involved set of window frames.  For example, when you press the start button, the window that appears has a large, dark grey (maybe even black) loop that looked as though a piece of cord had been wrapped in wire, or perhaps a very tight spring.  The desktop has a brightly glowing, orange sun with short spikey things emanating from it.  An earth like globe rotates around it.  Literally, it was filled with eye candy.  I have a vague recollection that it was made in 2004, but I'm not very certain about that.  I've spent two days now trying to find it again, to no avail.  Does this description sound a bit familiar?  If so, can you point me to a download link, or even give me a name?  I'd so much appreciate it.

Kind regards,

Mally

since you downloaded it within the last week - what's the name of the file?

I wish I could remember.  To top it off I'm fairly regular about clearing space on my HD, and CClean takes my download history.  In all these years I've never needed it before.  It would seem I used it since downloading that file.

Hey, Snowman; thanks for the reply.  It's not the one I was looking for, but I like it really well.  I downloaded it.  It also looks like a new source for looking for the one I'm hunting.  Thanks again, man, and good luck with your shrooms, whatever kind is your preference.

I was thinking the same thing.  Really, they didn't know what kind of skin for what program?  Oh come on now.

Easy now on the spam-paranoia, fellas.

Aston has been around for yonks.

Don't scream spam, just because someone post external links.

Probably legit...A LOT of folks new to customization don't know you have to have certain software installed to use stuff on this site (and other sites)...

Aston has been around for years. I used to have it right before discovering Windowblinds and WC. It was a trial version. Worked alright but I like what I have better.

How is a link to a skinning tool spam on a skinning based site?

No more so than linking to Xymantix (sysmetrix), rainmeter, rainlendar, Talisman, hoverdesk, winstep, etc.

It isn't a blind. It is an Aston skin.

who is Aston, never heard of him/her? geez, get your suspenders on backwards or something.

Aston is a shell replacement...like Litestep, but not quite as old.

Re 'spam', that's typically defined as actually NOT pertaining to skinning/GUI customizing, as far as we're concerned, anyway....;)

I'm sorry to anyone who was caught off guard, or offended by my post.  It wasn't intended to be spam to your group.  My first post tried to describe what I was looking for, and in it, I did say I didn't even remember it's format  As some of your have surmised, this is my first venture into skinning Windows, but not into graphics in general.

I recently had the file, lost it, and asked here for help in it's identification.  As a way to conclude the thread in case anyone else needed it someday, I put the link in the last post I made.  I'm only just learning that there are a number of different packages that open a number of different file formats.  I didn't realize this forum was intended only for some of them.

Please accept my apologies to those whose toes I stepped on.  I am truly sorry.

Nothing to be sorry for MallyMcGinnis, a few of us, like myself, are so old it's very hard for us to remember what being new at something was like.  :O

Welcome to the skinning community.  Come on back when you have questions, lots of talented and knowledgeable folks here that are very willing to help.  :sun:
