A request for pirate tweaking in the expasion

Well, I know that the pirates have been tweaked quite a bit lately. But there is one that seems to have been missed. I mostly play multi-solar system. I would like to have at some point the pirates to have the drive that allows them to go between stars. Since at some point in any given battle with multi-star system the pirate almost aways become use able against a single star system. Since that isn't what there desinged to be I would like to request this. Thank you for your time and if implemented will make Rebellion quite intresting. I don't know if other multi-system regular players feel the same?

Absolutely.  Essential.

No!!! Why would anyone ever attack a pirate base then if they have to shut down 3 more in different solar systems? Granted the star would be an easy chokepoint, but still.

I have worked on a mod where i made the pirates a playable faction, but only for personal use, by copying and renaming slightly, to Pirates, instead of Pirate, made them playable and given them research.

I haven't played a long enough game to see if they will jump stars yet though.

Thought comes to mind that even if reducing the tech research cost for the 'Pirates' allowed them to research it fairly early then you might get a race, even if played as AI that would research star jumps and use it along with capitals of course.  :)

Just a thought.

Will have to play some more and see if it works, or if they continue not to research.

Of course, another way might be to copy the TEC and give them the Pirate ships and call them Pirates and play as AI or player and see how that works.

Since AI TEC are more likely to research as AI than the Pirates were originally.

:)

Fairly easy to try and might work for what you want.  :)

Hey Teal--you're still here!  Tri-Pirate was the mod yes?  It was very nice looking.

As it stands now, within a star's region, pirates do jump (similar to phase stabilizer jumps) to the pirate bases and sometimes from them to another.  I haven't seen them jump stars or use wormhole phaselanes and weish they had that capability.

Not advocating for more bases--just that they could be made more effective in custom map designs.

Have you tried giving them star-to-star jump research?

I've added the hyperspace bonus to the pirate planet template but they never seem to discover it.  At least it doesn't get used.  I haven't tried since in 1.2 though.  Might be worth a try.

Well, I hope that in rebellion that they pirates inter-solar drives. I wouldn't want to play them but that my feeling about it.

Pirates can actually work if they are carefully designed into strategy in the galaxy map.  It would be great if you could pre-assign tech to militia's, AI and the like--including pirates

Tesla...Teal--these Russian names really confuse me

Nikola Tesla was born in the Austrian Empire, in the country called Croatia today... At the age of 28, he moved to the USA where he have make most of his inventions... He have die in NY at the age of 86 ( for the 10 last year of his live, he have remain in the suite 3327 from the New Yorker Hotel )... so, please explain how you relate Tesla to Russian names !!!

About the Teal, to my knowledge, it is a duck... well, for more info ask Teal...

I am disappointed at your lack of understanding Thoumsin.  Let me explain for you so you can uphold the proud heritage.

Teal is a color (and I believe a duck also).  Tesla was embraced by Russian scientists as revolutionary when those in the West were uninterested in funding much of his more advanced research. This makes him an honorary Russian son.

Now Tesla also made numerous discoveries and inventions and it is also well known that the color spectrum is explained and understood through scientific discovery.

It is finally a well known fact that all great scientific breakthroughs and advanced discoveries made on the earth were first  achieved by  Russian scientists and then credit was stolen later by greedy capitalist Westerners.

Therefore, Tesla's discoveries and the discovery of the color teal are all Russian contributions and their names only identify that they were great Russian discoveries--which is the most important fact--and so for all practical purposes they are Russian names.

What's so hard to understand about this?:ninja:
