There are just a few things in life that bring us all together, that show us just how fragile we all are.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families that lost loved ones. :S

We got lucky. It missed us just barely. We got wind, hail, and rain. No damages here.

They are estimating 231 people in 6 states..

thoughts and prayers to everyone this has affected.

Thank God for that. I thought about you Jim and your family all the while watching it praying you guys were safe. Those storms are totally outrageous.

Thanks Uvah. Glad to know we are thought of!     Let's keep prayers and well wishes for those not as fortunate as us.  -_-   O:)

Edit, just texted with my sister in law down in Scottsboro, Ala. They were hit pretty hard but everyone is ok. They will be without power for 4 to 7 days though.

Onklifiziert .... loosen the clasp on your cranium. Methinks its too tight judging from the look of your new avatar. j/k.

OT - An estimated 1 million people will be without of power. Sad part is the storms aren't finished yet. They're expecting more tonight and another system on Saturday.

There's brief mention of the cause of these continuing storms on msnbc news. A lingering La Nina pulling the jet stream down with cooler than normal air from the north at 56 degrees F average and warmer than normal, 86 degrees F, on the southern side clashing along a wide swath from Texas going northeast all the way up to southwest New York state. Climate change anyone?

amazed they didn't blame Bush......

I hope everyone in the WC family is safe. I know Z71 (Ross Fairbanks) is in Alabama and there are quite a few others in the states hit.

Seems to me I watched a program on satellite recently that talked about the capability to change the jet stream and thus cause sever weather changes.

I wish I could remember the program.  I will have to do some searching.

Wouldn't be all that hard to do. Seed a few clouds with silver iodide to influence their moisture content. Air Force experimented with that back in 50's and 60's. Failed miserably. But today with much more sophisticated technologies I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Control the weather and you pretty much call the shots.

I just learned that my wife, a Registered Nurse in the ICU, has a few storm victims.

Hearts and prayers to every one. This is definitely one for the record books ...... unfortunately.

My wife has a patient today who was inside a mobile home that was lifted off the ground. The man had a friend with him who was sucked out a window, while the trailer was airborne. Then the man (patient) was sucked out the window, hit the ground, was picked up again by the tornado, and slammed into the ground again.

He has two collapsed lungs, his butt looks like hamburger, and he is barely alive.

I have much to be thankful for.   :'(

these storms hit our county hard! Mountain city and Lake Burton are just a few miles from me! We have friends who lost a lot last night...Pray for them and everyone else affected by this...We are lucky to be alive!

My thoughts are with the victims of the storms. Such devastation and the lost of lives is truly horrible.

Nature sure knows how to remind us we can't control everything.

Hope your friends are ok Skinhit and they can get back on their feet straight away.

I live in N.E. Mississippi, and we had several tornadoes touch within a few miles of our house. The tornado sirens went off three or four times- once it sounded for almost an hour.

I grew up in Florida, went through my first hurricane at the age of four. I can handle a hurricane. You can prepare for a hurricane- move inland lol.

Tornadoes? They are monsters. You can guess, but you can't be sure....

One tornado was spotted moving toward the area we live in, but skipped over our area and touched down a few miles east of here.

Whatever or whoever you believe in, I thank my personal diety that my family is safe.... Especially since yesterday morning, I found out that my wife is pregnant with twin boys! That makes 3 sons for me!!!!!

One happy note in an otherwise dreadful time. Congratulations on the twins Killajosh and lets pray they never have to witness such tragedy.

We weren't effected in my neck of the woods but I know A LOT of folks in northwest Georgia who were. Yes, pray for all those effected and lend a helping hand (donations, volunteer, etc.) where you can...  :\

@Skinhit - I didn't know you were a Georgia boy....  :|
