Equipment bug is back in 1.20

Bugs that were fixed in other patches are back again in m. The shrines are not upgrading to great shrines (if you have the tech) when you conquer an empire city that has a normal shrine. Also, the armor/weapons highlighting but not equipping bug. If you like pictures, I have some to illustrate what I mean.

I also had an oom so I'm including that file here. The zip has the debug and autosave from the oom but you can see the shrines as well.

This picture shows the fire and earth shrines not upgrading in the conquered empire cities. Also, I was only able to delete the earth shrine as it was in a city. I could not destroy any of the shrines that were not connected to the cities (so I could rebuild them as great shrines). I've never had that problem before. The cities are green because I had reloaded the game, I never see conquered empire cities turn green without a reload.

 

This is the equipment bug. I bought a yithril bow for Nabaja by mistake because she was in the 1st position in the lineup where the sov usually is (a bug?). I tried to trade it to the sov but Nabaja kept equipping it even if the battle hammer was highlighted. As you can see in the picture the battle hammer is highlighted, but the yithril bow is equipped. I finally got her to let go of the bow by somehow unequipping her of her weapons, then she equipped her oak spear. Which leads to problem #2.

Now she won't let go of the oak spear. I tried trading another battle hammer to her but that didn't help. As you can see all her weapons are highlighted but only the oak spear is equipped. The only way to fix this is to reload the game. This happened pretty frequently in the past but I haven't seen it in quite a while until 1.19m.

I think that I've fixed the bugs related to capturing the city: the improvements should now auto-upgrade and the environment should now update correctly in the next update.

Regarding the equipment problems:

1) If you have a unit selected in the unit list for an army or a city when you hit Visit Shop, they will be the first unit shown in the list, regardless of if they are the sovereign or the leader of the army.  This is working as designed.

2) The difficulty with equipping/unequipping the spear is because it's the default weapon which is part of the NPC's unit type and as such can't be equipped/unequipped and the UI handles this poorly.  I'm working on this but it probably won't make it into the next update.

Thanks for fixing the shrines and especially the enviornment! That will be very nice to see. It wasn't really the spear that was the problem, it was the yithril bow that wouldn't unequip initially.I had a heck of a time getting that to unequip and I don't know how I did it. Even clicking on the spear wouldn't work. I think it finally stopped equipping (it wasn't highlighted but was equipped), was when I got the spear to unhighlight somehow so that no weapons were highlighted.

It happened again later in the game with the envoy hero (can't remember his first name) when he had the kazaan sword and sov shield equipped. I wanted to switch to the lord hammer but he would not unequip the sword and shield (he did not have a default weapon). The hammer was highlighted just as with the example above with the yithril bow but he was still equipping the shield and sword. If you click on the shield and sword after the hammer is highlighted (and unequipped), they will also highlight, like in the picture above with the 3 weapons highlighted. The only way to resolve this is to restart so sending a save game isn't gong to help you. This used to happen a lot with armor also, but it seemed to be fixed in one of the patches because I haven't seen it in a while until 1.19m.

I'm still getting the equipment bug in 1.19n. Weapons are highlighting and not equipping. There is not a default weapon in these cases.

In this example, I traded a horse and he became unequippable to every champ, including the one he belonged to at first. Bought a new one and it was fine (after the offending horse was out of inventory).

Horse is highlighted but not equipped.

Highlighted horse is tradeable (shouldn't be) but decided it was time to go out to pasture. I had to sell the horse or restart. I sold the horse.

I haven't been able to reproduce any problems with trading, equipping or unequipping items.  If you are able to follow a certain set of steps with a save game to reproduce any of these issues, please post your save game with step by step instructions on how to reproduce the bug. This would help us to fix the problem sooner.

I got it to reproduce and I think it's related to the updating of the info screen, which you probably haven't been doing, and I do at the beginning of every game.

At the beginning of every game, once I get a horse, I edit the info cards of every champ because the game does not save the info cards. I keep the horses equipped but save the cards with the horse unequipped. The game starts out with the portraits having the horses equipped, like this

 

or like this, in the original state that the champion was found in.

Here are the steps to reproduce the bug.

1. Edit the info cards of everyone, except Savage Striker since he is a duplicate of Mapret and his card will automatically update. I've tried just update Rilis (since we will be using her later) and that has worked also, but I've only done that once so don't know if it works every time.

     a. unequip the horse

     b. edit info card, pick a pose and save it

     c. equip the horse

     d. the horse should be unequipped in the strip on the bottom but equipped in the equipment window.

     e. Repeat a - c for each champ or you could just try it for Rilis.

If you don't do step 1, the equipment bug does not appear, at least not following the steps below.

The champions pics should look like this - (or whatever pose you chose)

2. Have Rilis buy a battle axe at the shop. DO NOT EQUIP the battle axe. This is not something I do during the game but have found it reproduces the bug quickly.

3. End the turn.

4. Equip Rilis' battle axe.

5. Now click on the Sword of Wrath. It will be highlighted, but will not equip.

Let me know if you have any questions or if I wasn't clear about something.

It would be nice if the equipment bug is related to the bug causing the info cards not being saved correctly. Then you could kill 2 bugs with one stone. :blush:   

edit - This works for any champ, as long as you've done all the steps (although I don't know if equipping/unequipping the horse is necessary). Actually sometimes the horse becomes unequippable like the weapons.

Now that beta is over, I've been using mods and am getting this bug constantly. If I trade an item after saving an info card at some point, I can't equip the traded item on the sov or champs. Same bug with it highlighted but not equipped.
