Smx not reading TCP?

Just popped up.

Recently I received a PM asking about the TCP function on sysmetrix. As I'm not all that familiar with the app as far as a fix is concerned I thought it best to post it in the forums and perhaps someone with more knowledge will have a suggestion on how to correct this. Basically what is happening is that the function works intermittenly and in some instances only when the config window is open. Has anyone an idea as to how fix this?

Clicked on referral and went to XPThemes. I looked around and didn't find anything. How about an answer here.

Not a lot of folks doing SysMetrix skins besides you these days Uvah.  You might try going to the SysMetrix site and looking or asking there.

Maybe you're right Philly. Shame too. The program really does have potential. I'm still exploring different things. BTW.....I made a dock.

Uvah the problem is that the NIC will sometimes change to something like this Software Loopback Interface 1 after applying a new skin. You just need to click on the network tab and choose your network adapter which will be option number 2 usually. Then click save. Mine is working fine.

Not a problem. I don't know a lot about much but I know my smx,

Thank you JC. I knew there was somebody out here who knows his ****.

Curious. My regular IP is the second option and that's where it says Software Loopback Interface 1. The first option is a completely different IP and listed is the REALTECH NIC Device on my laptop. IEEE 802.11 Wireless and the connection is operational. Chose the first option then clicked save. So far no change.

Uvah your regular connection should not be the software loopback interface 1, at least it is not for me. That is only a 6 digit number. I do not use wireless for security reasons but when I enable my wifi adapter it gives me 3 options in sysmetrix. My first option is the loopback 6 digit number and then my Ethernet connection and then my wifi connection which are both 9 digit addresses. Try enabling all of your connections in control panel/network connections if they are not already. Then click on your wireless option in sysmetrix and save the theme. Exit sysmetrix and start it again. There must be a conflict somewhere and sysmetrix is not recognizing your wifi.

This is the nine digit IP. 10.22.220.127 ..... on top, first option. This one has the name of the wifi adapter.

second option underneath is the IP I've been using. 127.0.0.1. This one has the Software Loopback Interface 1.

These are the only ones there. I switched to the top one Could be I didn't close sysmetrix then restart it after saving the theme. I'm learning.

BTW .... all the smx's I've done have the six digit IP.

Seems to be working okay now.

Yes it will have the 6 digit loopback but that is not what you should be selecting. If you are then that is why your having the issues. You need to select your ip that corresponds with your connection type ie. for me if I use the wireless connection it will be 192.158.2.67 (just an example) and my NIC description is 802.11n Wireless LAN Card.

If I use my Ethernet my last 2 digits are reversed and the NIC description is Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.

You should not have to exit sysmetrix either. I just suggested that because your having a problem with sysmetrix detecting your wireless card.

I figured that. That's why I closed it then re-opened it. I now have the nine digit selected with the name of my wifi adapter. One of the things I'm noticing is that the numbers are changing but the gauge hands don't always reflect that change. All the proper settings are there in the config window. Checked and double checked. I'll have to let it run some more and see what happens but on the whole I think I got it. Thanks for your help.

Uvah when you say the gauge hands do not reflect the change are you making sure your starting angle and total degree settings are correct?

They are bang on for me.

A trick that I will sometimes use when I use a gauge dial with markers that do not circle 360 degrees is to set the gauge I am using to random value, change the settings and observe the movement of the needle. Once I have the settings to where everything lines up I then change the gauge from random value to tcp or cpu.

Always check those settings. I keep the starting angle at 360 degrees. Could it be that there is little or no traffic? Because what I meant was the numbers change but the hands sometimes do not move. Like I'm watching them as I'm typing this. There is no movement and the numbers are at zero.

Went back into the config window. It had jumped back to the six digit IP. I had to change it again. Not supposed to do that.

Uvah the starting angle depends on your dial. I never have mine at 360. For example the last 2 I done the settings were starting angle 240 and total 240. Like I said it depends on your dial and the markings of where they begin and end on the dial. It also could be like you said that there is not much traffic and i suspect that the gauges and numbers will not match perfectly anyway. Try downloading something and watch it to see what happens.

Good idea. I set sysmetrix to run at start up. Each time it comes up now I have to reset the IP. Figured out why it happens too. And its so simple. During the course of a day I'm at three different locations. I should have realized that the IP's would be different. I think it jumps back to the six digit IP is because that one may be a default IP.

Off topic. Are you hearing about the storms down south? Been watching msnbc news. More than 150 tornadoes in three days. That's above average. We got hammered here in Pa too. Huge tree limb down in front of the local police dept.Came down on top of the war memorial.

Absolutely Uvah. If your IP changes it will revert to loopback so you need to always reset to your current IP.

I have heard about the storms down South. Its kind of funny in a way. I do not mean the storms are funny but I always had thought that living down south would be a good thing because of the weather. I like the warmer climates. People have made fun of us Canadians but at least we do not get Tornadoes that destroy our homes. I will take the snow any day over a tornado. I will just have to find a warm spot to retire too without them or the tsunami's, floods, drought or man eating crocodiles, lol
