Very strange, Restored my win 7 x64

It worked when I bought it but restored it and now logon studio doesn't work

Hello y'alls,

The first time I've visited this forum (maybe because stardock stuff JUST WORKS!) lol Anyways, I have a Acer Aspire 5152-1513 (yeah I know cheap) with windows 7 x64 installed. I bought this computer from a friend and the first thing I installed was logon studio, I hate, hate acer's green welcome screen (puke green.) I leared about it when I used it on my HP mini 110-1125NR netbook, which has windows 7 x86 and absolutely loved it and never once had a problem. I also loved other products by stardock ( I wish I could afford the whole collection of stardock stuff.) I just restored my acer back to factory settings because of other issues not involving stardock (battery issue; it only charges to 80%, customer service tells me upgrade BIOS to 2.0, that just screwed the whole thing up and it didn't fix the battery and made it worse off >:( .) Ok enough of that, my issue is that logon studio doesn't change the background even after uninstalling and reinstalling and restoring again. I'm just fed up trying to figure out what could cause this issue. Maybe an update but nope it worked before for over 3 months without an issue even after installing windows 7 service pack one. Now I don't know about any of you but I'm baffled. How does it work the first time but not the second time? I don't know and I am computer literate. Anyways, I would appreciate  any help at all. Thank you. You make me smile   .

Did you use Impulse to install it?  This might fix it: de-install Logon Studio, cleanup with a program like CC, reboot and try re-installing Logon Studio.

No I didn't use impulse and after each install i used CCleaner to delete registry files and temp internet files. Thank you though I will try this as well.

There is something else to consider.  When you brought the computer did the HD get reformated and a fresh install of the the OS done?  One possibility if it wasn't is that there is a piece of software on the computer that is causing the problem.

I'm pretty sure when I allowed acer eRecovery Manager recover the computer that it reformatted the harddrive

Well then is Windows fully updated yet?

I did it both ways, I installed all my updates first before I installed logon studio and then since it still didn't work I recovered it again and then installed it before updates still no success. Now here's something stranger too there's 9 different pictures of the factory acer backgrounds in System32\oobe\info\backgrounds folder which I think is even odder still. When I first started changing the logon screen I used the hack (on my HP mini not this current computer) that replaces certain files and then you physically have to change the background yourself. Ended up having to reinstall the whole os that time. LOL. I remember that windows only installs ONE background there I wonder why acer decided to put 9.

willowchat1981 I'm not familiar with Acer but all you may have done is set you system back to 'factory settings'.  I use System Restore under Windows and all that does is go back to settings based upon a restore point.  You may have only done that, I'm not sure so you might want to check on that.

You could also look at software loaded and see if there are any that you don't recognize, though sometimes it would be better to let someone more familiar with computers to do that.  I did that once and deleted some needed programs.

Ok I finally fixed it. Yeah! I had to do this https://forums.stardock.com/377638 the part where I changed system 32 pic to jpg.bak and I changed all 9 of them (just one doesn't work.) Anyways, thank you everyone for your help  . I still can't believe though it worked once without rewritting any files and then now I have to, I'm still puzzled on the whole aspect of it.
