Demigod: What would you do?

Demigod: What would you do?

This month marks the two year anniversary of Demigod's initial release. It's time to start thinking about its future.

If you had your way, what would you do with Demigod?

For example: For a Demgiod v1.5, what key tweaks would you do in that?

For a Demigod expansion, what would you do in that?

For a Demigod sequel, what would you do in that?

We'd like to hear how you guys would like to see Demigod evolve in the future.

Quoting Plaguewraith, reply 222But what else can I do, but to highlight it over and over again?

Einstein defined "insanity" as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result

But Einstein was a theoretical physicist. So, mental disorders were not his speciality, I guess.

Since he died, many quotes have been shown up and I don't believe he all said them. But it is an easy way to weight up a simple sentence by declaring someone popular, who is declared to be higly interlectual, said that...

But maybe you have a qoute concerning me, because I don't expect a different result as written in my former post?

I don't want to be unpolite now, but every statement somebody does, tells the others about that person too.

JUSThaveFUN, a nice idea, but I don't think that any other software company will really jump in as long as it's not (almost) free to get. To buy the rights from Stardock to publish DG  is too dangerous I guess.

Free to play is still something to hope for, but I can't imagine that someone at Stardock has any thoughts about DGs future.

As a side note: I looked at Impulses Advertisment for DG yesterday and really had a laugh. The site still talksabout 8 playable DGs and under feature it says: "Future plans include downloadable content." (Not to mention "advanced AI" ^^)

Maybe all we have to do is waiting for that announced future plans to be carried out? ;-)

Ok. =)

Concerning JUSThaveFUNs post:

I just tried to get an insigt on DotA 2, but since there are no screenshots or so, just an announcement for an  tournament in August with 1 000 000 $ price money, it's impossible to tell if DG can compete against it, even if it would be supported correctly.

We'll have to wait for that. Maybe DotA 2 will be what DG didn't managed concerning MP?

Maybe, maybe maybe...

You do know that breakthroughs as the likes of Einstein did was doing things over and over, with just minor adjustments?

Even great things have come out of a fluke, or simply being up for question.

One thing is certain. If you do nothing, most of the time, nothing happens :-p

For once, I know something about making things happen. Its my work :-p. Maybe Im not a total idiot after all eh? :-p

"Dota 2" is going to be the same game with Dota 1. Just new engine, graphics and some heroes.

Hah! You wish. You live in a dynamic universe. It takes alot of effort to counteract its effects so nothing happens.

That's because the girls were busy making a concentrated effort to stay away from people like you.

This is what I want someone to do or be a part of. It may sound like reaching for the stars, but if this fails at trying, why even bother with this thread. If it's done with the demigod the way it is now or demigod 2 is not the topic issue. That something should be done is! My idea from another thread:

Dear Maulkin and whoever has an interest in a future of Demigod,

So many before you have tried, cried, begged for future support since the game is out till most recently. I'm not saying we should stop asking whoever might be in charge right now, but we must keep asking so they see different and new people show a lot of interest in the years. So write that letter and send it to whomever it may concern.

However, what really could help demigod is a business proposal to different video game companies like Blizzard, Microsoft, EA Games and many other  smaller ones that are out there. Send it to everyone. This game is with no doubt unanimously one of the best games of it's genre, if not the best (when the bugs and connectivity issues are put aside). In several weeks this game will gain thousands of gamers with a publicity campaign, a free to play model, and minor bug fixes and better online support. In several months this game would grow to a real esport game with millions of players around the world. In between half a year and a year this game will become and ESL title and stand right next to StarCraft II. With a great support team probably even faster than that.

I mean look how crappy LoL looks and feels in comparison to Demigod? Don't give me wrong LoL has it's strengths and is a fun game to play, also on a high lvl. But what really matters in this world is the support and publicity of a game, more than it's quality. That's why crappy Browser games are played by millions. So if demigod would just get that (a hard working team) everything would almost work by itself because of it's high-end quality.

It might just be too late for that though, depending on how good Dota II is. However, Demigod could be the perfect counterweight to it with its unique graphics, arenas, epic atmosphere, demigod mechanisms, and highly strategic platform and game speed.

This would take a lot of effort and research though. Questions would be: How to contact the giants and small video game companies? Also the legal ways, that whoever is owning demigod right now might have complications within? How to write a business proposal? What to do if a little interest is shown etc.

But if anyone is a specialist in business affairs, has a lot of time in it's hands, or just loves the game too much should just do that. The best option would be if a couple of people try this effort together: creators, fans, and current owners.

In new map Riot-games will add flag-capturing.

If u have any ressources, work on Demigod 2 instead of evolving a nearly dead game.

Demigod 2 needs..

1. better connectivity

2. better match-making-system (like Starcraft 2 , LoL, HoNE)

3. better ladder-system

4. more community features ( put Chat, PMs, buddy-list, stats, ladders "directly" into the game ! (and dont hide them))

5. free-to-play model (like LoL, BattleForge)

If I were to make a sequel to Demigod, I would include full mod support, complete with a level editor and modding tools. I'd also focus on making the game more intense with better action by removing the old point-n-click controlls with something more like a WASD layout.

IMPORTANT The next patch should really really include this:

it would be great that after each online match,we would be brought back to the lobby where we could chat about what a awesome game we had just now instead of the menu screen which does not make an sense........

have faithed in you all.

Just Bug fixing. Two more Demigods and 2-3 new Maps (2 small, one larger one). Make it like an Addon, for 10$ or so.

Frogboy... Just interrested; are you actually considering creating a Demigod sequel, or are you just interrested in our opinions in general?

Another thing that I have been wondering.. have you named yourself after the one-episode-Marvel-Villain "Frogboy"?

I wouldn't expect an answer anytime soon, Gestrinski. He's too busy botching up ideas for his next best-selling novel. He even sold Impulse to Gamestop so that he could turn himself into a full time writer.  :waaaa:

I think it would have to be in a Demigod sequel.  My personal opinion (not speaking for Stardock or GPG) is that if Demigod 2 gets budgeted then Demigod 1 needs to get a little bit more love.  I wouldn't bother with an expansion though, I'd go directly for a Demigod 2.

So I guess we can assume that there will be no Demigod 2 because Demigod 1 has gotten no more love (or even acknowledgement as a red headed bastard step child) in the last 7 months since starting this thread?
