Firefox 4 Launches One Day Early

Just passing this along. The Mozilla website hasn’t been updated as of now, but my ff4RC updated today…as will yours if you participated in the beta testing program.

Still, it’s problematic…. doesn’t show the vids I can see with Opera 11.01 on WC. Neither does ie9.

I will wait until it is updated in FF, check for Updates. Thanks anyway.

I tried a 64 bit beta version of FF did not like it at all, cannot run 32 bit at same time as you run the 64 bit it is either or situation.

At least with IE you can run the 32 and 64 bit at same time.

My only question would be, why would you want to run both the 32-bit and 64-bit apps on the same PC? o_O

Upgrade was pretty painless here, but other than an increase in speed, the interface does not look that much different.  Faster is good though! :)

Because you can, as you are all aware of IE comes in 2 flavors on W7 32 bit which is located in the program file (86) folder and 64 bit which is located in the Programs folder. W7 Defaults to the 32 git version when installing the OS. In the 64 bit version certain add-ons do not work, such as I check Nvidia for updates the have a checker that requires an add on so your system can be checked it does not work under 64 bit but works quite well under 32 bit.

Do the 2 vids in reply #1 and #2 in the thread below appear in your ff4, Tom?

As OldMsgt stated, some addons dont work with 64 bit versions. Roboform is another one. Also some web based applications just hate the shit out of the 64 bit versions too.

FF homepage says there's a feedback button on the top right of the browser. No there isn't. Only the home page button (WC) and bookmarks. Imageshack is not compatible. I can't upload with FF. Now I gotta keep switching over to palemoon to upload stuff. Providing it hasn't changed. Oy veh!

EDIT: It looks suspiciously like Opera. :-"

I will have to download and test on my Desktop (It is running Pro, so I use it as a server for the most part).  Thanks for the update.

I downloaded RC2... approximately 8 hours before that exe was released. :S

No.  I didn't change anything.  I do NOT have the latest Flash version though.  Maybe that's it?

maybe that or an HTML5 problem.

I checked it out in Opera 11.0.1 and the vids work. Not in FF4. I'm going to check out the latest Flash and see if that makes a difference.

Its not the latest flash player. Version 10.1 plug-in is already installed. Those plug-ins that were on the previous version were kept. Adblock is compatible but very few other good ones.

i'll pass on Firefox. Takes ages to load and is becoming slower and slower every release. I use Chrome and Opera. The only so called add on i like is speed dial and i don't use anything else. So FF is pretty pointless for me as it's only saving grace is the thousands of add-ons

When I first updated FF its load time was cut down from nearly three minutes to an unbelievable 2 to 4 seconds! Even at the dayroom where the load time was nearly five minutes its down to less than twenty seconds. Very fast indeed. I just wish Imageshack worked with it.

It's not a flash issue, home PC has latest version and I still can view the vids.

Holy cow!  Waaaay faster.  I am thrilled.

Some add-ons not working but that is to be expected.  I'm hoping some third party options will get synced soon but awesome speed.

I will stick to Firefox 3.6.12. Anything above that has issues with my Facebook games and connection issues with the router for some reason. I will wait until Firefox 4 is a bit more polished.
