Ha, ha. Looking forward to watching the moon tonight. Incidently, Sailor Moon is an aliteration of "Suharu Mun" which means "Universal Soldier" in Japanese.

If anyone is wondering what is up in this thread, the 19th of march will have one of the brightest, largest full moons of all year.

Edit> Apparently it only occurs once every 18 years.

Due to atmospheric haze and the moon's closest approach at 201,000 miles this time around will make it seem much larger than normal and being that it will be full only adds to the charm. I for one am looking forward to seeing it. Now if they can only get the clouds out of the way.

Yeah, it's pissing down here {has been all day] and the moon's not visible.

However, I shall not let that deter me. 

I know it's full moon tonight...

So I'll be sitting naked atop the back fence baying at the lunar rock regardless.

Yes, Luna, decked out in her full glory, and orbiting a littler closer than she usually does to earth will be a sight to see.  And yoes, i expect the emergency rooms to have a max crowd tonight.  Go out and get the whole magilla!

I don't think that's the moon they're talkin about.

 

I saw that moon as a child. It was scary to me. We didn't have all this information back then. Nothing happened I'm happy to report.

I missed it this time around. But, the night was all lit up.  Beauty!

Actually it will look 18% larger then normal. Werewolves also look much larger.

Starkers if the clouds break please stay in tonight that would be an awful site to see.

Which is probably why the cops refuse to turn up each full moon... even with their SPF 30 sunnies.  Or would that be moonies?

Actually, I read someplace that quite a few men have offered to be her next sperm donor.  Personally, I can't see the point of that... unless you get to deliver it the natural way.  That plastic cup thingy in a roomful of various 'aids' is not a gig I'd find at all comfortable.  I mean, what if they have hidden cameras and the next thing you're on an adults only Candid Camera?  Nah, the fear of involuntary stardom would mess too much with my head and I don't think anything much would work.

A first in 18 years. There are two more firsts. One: Messenger, the first probe to orbit Mercury. Two: New Horizons. Launched in 2006 it has just crossed Uranus' orbit on its way to Pluto. It'll cross Neptune's orbit near 2014 and a year later arrive at Pluto. Not too shabby.

Yeah, we missed out as well... overcast and raining all night.... and I so wanted to see it.

Oh well, it's not like I had never seen one

I recall seeing a larger than usual full moon as an 11 - 12 y/o kid in the UK.  There was a cottage across the road and the moon seemed to be dancing along its roof.  I watched until it disappeared behind woodland.

I also saw one in my mid-30's and it seemed to be skipping across the water on horizon.  I remember that one very well... was walking along Sandgate beach North of Brisbane with my significant other half at the time, and afterward we sat in a cafe sipping coffee with others who were also in awe of the spectacular sight we had seen.
