I'm always happy to see an update.  SINS is a franchise I really want to see be successful.  The upcoming addon was a wonderful surprise.  I can't wait to see more details about it.  This is a great game that could be awesome.  It just needs a little more content.

Is this update for Dilpomacy only or is it also supposed to be available for Vanilla and Entrenchment?  Impulse only gave me the option of updating Diploamacy.

Nice to see this as final now.  Gotta fix my mod now. ugh!!

So if we want to play "pre-Beta" before Vasari got nerfed, play Entrenchment.

Every patch there is always something to complain about in some people's minds simply because balance and such changes. That is in essence the very nature of the patch and is again the very nature of the patch history throughout Sins Vanilla, Entrenchment, Diplomacy, and now Trinity. It will likely be the name of the game going into the stand alone expansion Rebellion as well. I have accepted this as the majority of the changes have been improvements and throughout the patch history from IronClad Games this statement holds true and does not waver.

Thank you Iron Clad and Star Dock for supporting the community once again!!!

vasari scramble bombers (at least lv 2 and 3) is still the most effective direct damage/antimatter and damage/second ability in the game.

It has been largely countered (as have fighter and bomber spam) by the abilities like Magnatize etc getting boosted significantly. It is something I am a fan of. :-)

So this may not be the correct place to put this however this keeps happening to me. After so many hours of the same game eventually the game randomly tells me that the enemy has been defeated. They still have plenty of ships and planets and in one brutal game i played were beating me when all of a sudden it would say faction defeated. This is after oh about the 8th hr. In one case me and my ally had balancing culture along with the other enemy factions when this happened. Please someone tell me this happens to other people too.

I hear by nickname this bug the 'AI gets Bord Bug' or AIBB

The AI takes into account relative fleet strength, economy territory etc. If it feels that it will be unable to win in the long run or even the short run there is always a possibility (depending on which type it is, aggressive, fortifier etc), that it will surrender. It will not always fight to the very bitter end.

do I have to start a new game to see the performance boost?

You can't use previously saved games with the patch.

Speaking to whomever may be concerned. I can not update or download (from scratch) Sins Trinity 1.2. Update fails with "file smaller" message and full re-install fails with "cant extract files". If the devs (or anyone else) knows what the problem is, YOU should be open about it. Is there a problem or isn't there ?

Try disabling any AV or firewall. Probably messing with the download.

Someone else had that problem, phoboulinos.

I think he solved it by uninstalling the game, and reinstalling from impulse.

Looking through the files, I was wondering when it comes to Diplomacy and the .entity files, especially the Capitalship entity files.  Since there are none in the Gameinfo directory, what ones does diplomacy use as a default?  do they use the Entrenchment ones of the plain sins ones in the GameInfo directory?

Need to know for modding purposes for diplomacy.

Thanks,

to darsxx ->If I remembeer well it uses the entrechment ones if they exists as well if not it uses the original soase ones, but u don't want to mod entrechment but only diplomacy i believe u can copy the entity files from entrechment mod them and then put them on diplomacy only.  But not 100 purcent sure i modded it last year so ...

Btw any1 know if the update might have bad effects on mods?

thx

I had to make a break from SOASE since my computer broke down a while ago.  I just came to the forum to read about the progress of some mods. Then I saw there was a patch which optimizes the game resources. I tried to fire it up on my old laptop with built-in graphics card. And it runs great! I even set some settings to medium and set a higher resolution.

The few other games I can run on it are Starcraft 1 and C&C Tiberian Sun (free download).

Thank you Stardock!

Hey will Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity automatically come with the v1.2 upgrade in the stores? If so, I want to buy the Trinity version from target, although i already own the game of the year edition, is it worth it to buy because of the upgrades or should i stick with the version i have already?

Please Help! (before my urge to take an advancement on my allowance takes over!)

Depends on whether you want instant gratification or not. Buying Trinity isn't necessary since you already have the base game, because Trinity is the base game with the Entrenchment and Diplomacy micro-expansions not something separate from the base game. It takes Impulse to get 1.2, and Entrenchment and Diplomacy. If you don't want to use Impulse, than you are better off waiting for the stand-alone expansion, Rebellion, like JohnJames said.

Otherwise, if my understanding is correct, you can purchase Trinity from the store (or from Impulse) and get a free upgrade using the Impulse client.

OR, using the Impulse client you can purchase the Entrenchment & Diplomacy addon's and then update via the Impulse client.

The update to v1.2 is free, all updates are. The upgrades (either through micro-expansions or purchasing a new box set) however cost money.

Rebelion is coming out later this year which will also include the updates already found in Entrenchment & Diplomacy / i.e. Trinity plus the v1.2 patch with the addition of new content.

You're call bud. :-)
