Hey gmc2; it is not so much the way they look as it is the unskinned parts such as shell styles in explorer and control panel, they are basically MS default.

thanks Cavan1, I was thinking of skinning the shut down/fog off and control panel graphics but not make a substyle, just wondering if it was worth the effort?

I find that I have to make a substyle for XP, in order for the blind to look right.  Making a substyle is fairly easy. You can import either all or part of the images from your Windows 7 blind.  Then you can tweak the images...most notably, the start panel.  Then you can make the XP only images.  Since I have both Windows 7 and  XP machines, I make both substyles.  If you don't have XP, then that is another issue.  You would need someone to help you with the XP version, so that you get the images right.  If I did not have an XP machine, I don't know if I would make XP substyles for my blinds.

MJ, I know how to make substyles and I do thank you for reinterating the process just in case. I have some fairly decent templates for xp but without the ability to actually check it (no xp) I guess the consideration is moot.
