Best Times to Buy (if you can)

Not strictly Personal computing, except that some of the items covered are tied to that.

This really caught my eye, and I figured (maybe I'm wrong) it could come in really useful at least to some degree for just about everyone. It comes from Lifehacker which I couldn't live without. Well, not as well, anyway. Don't forget to check your papers, though. This doesn't tell you where to buy, after all. It's just a "general guide".

It's been “just sitting there” so... here's my contribution for today. Lifehacker’s calendar:

I see wedding dresses are good value in the fourth quarter.... in case I ever get around to cross-dressing. :-"

In the meantime, however, I'll keep my eye open in the second quarter in the boot section for stilletto heeled pair. ;)

I'm stressed out, man! Only two more weeks to buy a boat. I'm not on a boat.

Wait until August to buy good wine?  To hell with that!

Like wot the f**k does that mean?  They're cheaper cos somebody offed the duco on 'em?

"Ah, Daniel San, paint on.... paint off."

"But Mr. Miyagi, doesn't that mean we'd have to sell them cheaper?"

"Not your worry, Daniel San, in January we sell them at twice going price with paint on."

:-"

If the calender was intended to tell you the best time to buy something to save the purchaser money, the best time to buy a boat is not right before boating season.

The best time to get a deal and save some cash on a boat is during the fall season, not spring. This is especially true in buying from an individual instead of a boat dealer.

I would think that if your in Australia, March would be a good time to buy one. Where is Lifehacker based at?

Boats: It's the end of boat show season; you've got the upper hand.

That's their reasoning for it.

If you don't understand what a word means I would suggest you look it up before making yourself look stupid.

"Varying from the usual, expected, or required color"

So, a purple Chevy Blazer.. an orange Honda Civic.. a yellow F150.

You missed the whole point dude. We all know what off color means. Do you know what 'spoof' means? o_O

I realize that you do.  The guy who didn't was below you.

OT:  What umm.. what was your point exactly?  Pointing out the obvious that the list mentioned off-color cars in December?  Sorry.. guess I should have just made my post "Your name is Uvah"

From the link in the OP:

"Off-color cars: Fancy a purple, orange, gold, or other off-color ride? You can probably get it for a steal right now as a year-end write-off for the dealership."

Off-color cars *could* have meant "cars that can't be driven in mixed company.* (lol?- it's all good...we Snowy and Doc are trying to make you giggle uncontrollably :) ).

For me, looking stupid on these forums is a past-time and something I happily do if it brings a smile to somebody's face.\

There's way too much serious shit going on in the world to be straight laced all the time.

Oh, and I did/do know what was/is meant by off-colour cars... some years ago my father bought an awful looking orange Ford for dirt cheap because the dealer had it in his showroom for 12 months and needed to offload it quick before the new year's stock came in.

I never thought of it like that, but yeah!  Mixed company didn't need to be around when dad's bright orange Ford wouldn't start, or it got cut off in traffic.

You're not still trying to sell that 'bridge to nowhere', are you? :w00t:

It ain't no bridge to nowhere, it goes someplace. I just haven't figured out where yet. Oh ... and someone please turn off 4Nana's giggle box. Half the threads filled with giggles.

Crusies in Spring?  There is a reason it is the "best time" to buy those things - no one wants to get them then.  Off color cars have to be dumped before year end, so that is why December is good.

Itis like playing the stock market.  If you know the exact time to buy and sell, you can beat Buffett.

I thought we'd discussed this and concluded that someplace in this case is nowhere at present... that we'll split the proceeds when it actually goes somewhere.

I have suggested to her ladyship wot commissioned it in the first place to put it across that bit of water between Alaska a Russia so we can exploit the tourism aspect, however, she wants it to go to DC to hasten her weekly commute after the next election but can't quite afford the additional materials just yet.
