Intel Driver Update Utility–Stay Updated!

The Windows Club has done us all a HUGE service. You all know that your computer needs updated drivers the same as your apps need to be updated. This keeps your computer working as it should without unexpected crashes. Thanks to their article ( http://tinyurl.com/6xcgfvs ) I learned of this utility and have updated my wireless network and chipset drivers.

Back up your existing drivers before installing new ones. Download only from the main site or your computer manufacturer’s site, never from a third party.

Also... note how "Tiles" helps me bring you the news!

"Tiles" is offered (beta) to ObjectDesktop subscribers. Another fantastic reason to become a subscriber/customer!!

You can get the intel utility here: http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm

Heh... it only recognized a single driver that needed updating, for a software piece. And the link it provided (to intel) was a dead end telling me the file was removed.

Just did a scan for updates. None needed. Everything is up to date.

Didn't recognize any drivers in my computer, device is unknown or unsupported, told me to check with the manufactuer.  :S

HP has a pretty good support app. Once before I checked to see if any updates were available and got the same return. The laptop was six months old then. I figured going on nine months it might need it but knock on wood everything is running smoothly for a change. Feels like my lappy is back to its old insane self. Even page loading has improved.

Did the manufacturer supply the driver 'branding' it post-Intel?

Did you upgrade your OS so that the app doesn't recognize your brand/model and OS combination?

Doc it is a Gateway off the shelf model and it has the Intel inside label but it was upgraded from Vista 64 bit to Windows 7 64 bit.  :S

That's why.

Now go to Gateway's site and see if they have an update, or better yet: Call their Tech Support and ask if their chipset, etc. are compatible with a 7x64 driver and if so, which.

:)

Haven't seen a similar update utility for them.

With Intel coming out with one I guess AMD will probably follow suite.

On the same website they have the Intel Processor Identity Utility, Perhaps if you got that and let it ID your processor it would help with the other program. They also have a Intel Processor diagnostic tool that is pretty neat as well.:meow: <3 My machine was also updated from Vista to Win 7 64 bit and all of the tools worked for me.

Better make sure you're getting the right drivers, Frankie.

The utility says my drivers are all up to date which does not surprise me with a machine that is barely a year old. I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday!

Thanks for the heads up Frankief but I think I might go over to the Gateway home page, since that is what I have, and ask about updating the drivers.  I cry like a baby when I make mistakes.  :O
