Simple Yes Or No Poll - Multiplayer

Simple Yes Or No Poll - Multiplayer

I have read random people stating the amount of people wanting multiplayer is probably around 1% and although a lot of people who are very pro multiplayer, no longer frequent the forum often anymore, im curious.

If Elemental had a true stable Multiplayer with all the single player bells and whistles, would you want that, simple Yes or No.

Yes.

To answer the poll question, YES.

Until it's implemented, and implemented right (i.e. not the half-assed MP we have now or some "streamlined" version), it's $50 I wish I could have back.

They really don't have to do a lot to please me, just have the same SP experience as a playable option in MP.  I couldn't care less for streamlined, stripped down, multiplayer modes.

I really don't understand what is so difficult about this concept for Stardock to grasp.  There's a lot of people asking for it, and from the outside perspective it seems like the easiest route to go.
What goodgimp said.

I bought Elemental for me and 2 friends, in large part because of MP.  We get on vent and play all sorts of games MP.  I didn't ask for a refund of Elemental because of MP.  Now I wish I had, I could use the $150 for other games that deliver what they promise.

MP isn't a 'waste' of resources, it's gotten my group of friends to buy a lot of games we'd otherwise not have because 1 of us bought a game, liked it, and others then got it to play together.

If a game is good, then MP is a plus.

If a basic, promised feature is removed, then the decision to pre-order a game becomes much more difficult -- why chance coughing up $ for something that may turn out nothing like what was offered?

Fool me once...

I can't wait to play with you and your friends in MP Nick-Danger. One of my ultimate hopes is that MP will be good enough to all these MP fanatics under one roof. TBS MP players are almost as rare as females in the gaming world.

Are you running window 7 64bit? That is probably what one needs to handle this game with a large map in MP.

So I take it you changed your vote from 'No' to 'Yes' -- cool.

Yes, I run Win7 64bit.

Well, you can't mod in MP and I didn't think it would have tactical battles. Now that I see the game coming to completion I am excited to run vanilla in MP.

Hell yes!

I just made 2 friends of mine buying Endless Space, they'd never if it wasnt for the MP.

Now I wish for MP in Fallen Enchantress and GalCiv2 or 3. These are much better games and I'd love to play them MP.

(But still want the main design focus to be the making of good SP game features. For instance I'd love features like the GalCiv2 ship designer also availble in MP games, and I want the Elemental tactical battles in my MP experience of the game too, I want a great as possible AI  etc etc.) Point is: Games isnt getting better by being streamlined for fast MP-play (like Endless Space), but I like to be able to make huge epical MP games simular to the SP-experience of the grand Stardock SP strategy games. It's my great dream that one day will come true!!

Hell yes!  And that's what's likely to be happening too, according to Brad.  If we start off with MP Competitive and Cooperative with tactical battles allowed (via a email notification system when people need to get together to be online, or be online for their turn), then hopefully we eventually can upload modded files and have mods available for MP too! =)

Honestly without Coop I probably will not play the game.  I bought Elemental because it promised coop and an original game design but was never able to deliver on coop and it took months to even be a playable game.  I still really like the concept and gameplay options/mechanics in motion for War of Magic but honestly I play games with friends as much to socialize and I do for the game itself.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe multiplayer is planned as an expansion.  Although nice for launch, the workflow does makes sense.

And that is fine, I'll just wait to play again until it implemented.  :)
