If you use Gmail, I recommend trying the mouse gestures option in the settings->labs area. Now, when I hold the right-click button in a message and move the mouse left or right it takes me to the next or previous message. It makes going through messages much nicer.
Thanks for the tip! This will come in handy especially since our org has about 1/2 million accounts (special ones for higher ed). I wonder though how many of those kids already figured it out?

I don't have a link that says "Settings"-- I had to click a tiny blue flower in the upper right-hand corner of Gmail. Just thought I'd clarify that crazy obscure design decision for anyone else having trouble.
