Trade Goods

I've asked this question before, and haven't gotten a response (and the search function for the forum seems to be broken) so I'll ask again....

If you barter trade goods to another race, and they get taken over, do the trade goods transfer to the conquering race? In addition, is there a list of which TG's have a global effect and which effect only the planet they are developed on?

I believe that all Trade Goods effects are global, and once built, can only be acquired by barter, or by conquering the original planet the good was built on.  When bartered, the receiving race gets the benefit immediately (they don't need to build anything), and I don't think anything can take it away from them.

Which gives rise to an interesting followup question:  If you build a Trade Good, and the planet it was built on is abandoned or conquered, do you retain the bonus, as though you'd traded it to yourself?

I think one loses the trade good effects when one loses the planet.  It should be easy to test, though.  Build one, write down stats, then gift away the planet, then check the stats again in a turn or two.

There is one Trade Good that is glitched/bugged (DA), IIRC.  That is, you can trade it to another race, but it does not get the benefit of that trade good.

I was referring more to a race that you barter a TG, who then get eliminated. I suppose an additional question might be, can that race barter the TG to someone else? It would make more sense that they couldn't, as it would seem you'd need the source planet for the TG to be able to do that.

So if the effects are global, then building both Ultra Spices (+15% Morale) and Virtual Reality Modules (+12% Morale) should give a galaxy-wide boost to your morale by 27%, right?

1a) No. The conquering race doesn't get the bonus.

1b) No. The only race that can offer a trade good is the one that actually owns it. What I don't know is whether or not a race that conquers the planet with the trade good can then offer it for trade.

2) Yes.  The effects are global; and if you have both trade goods, then you get both bonuses.

I can answer that one. Yes. In my current campaign, I've captured a planet that had a TG built by another race...Diplomatic Translators. I got the +25% diplomatic increase, and I could use it during trading.

I thought as much, but wouldn't say so because I just didn't know for sure.

Thanks.
