Domina

I saw some posts saying that the domina needs a fix, so I started thinking. This might not work, but whatever it's what popped into my head:

While affected by the Perserverence ability, that ship cannot die. When the ability wears off and if the ship has <1 hp, it dies.

What does everyone think? Any better ideas?

Yea, idk if its possible coding-wise but certainly fits well with the lore and is a genuinely new ability that could give some spice to this ship. Makes sense for a high tier tech too. 

But the Domina still needs fixes to its targeting to lower the crazy micro with it.

The biggest issue with the domina is that its auto-targeting is completely broken; doesn't work, you have to manually target all its abilities.  On a 4-command unit that only becomes available once fleets are in the 600+ (or higher) command-range, that's unacceptable.  Beyond that, it could use a few solid buffs, but its abilities aren't that bad.

Implementation-wise, what you suggest seems beyond the scope of a patch.  A cool idea, but not gunna happen.

Easier way would be to have Perseverance grant considerable damage reduction.

Percentage based Damage reduction would be better than repair for 1) making the ship different from other repair ships and 2) helping the valuable Advent caps survive focus fire. It should be powerful enough to encourage wiping out all Dominas before focusing caps.

That might be too much of a buff. then dominas + repair bays = invincible fleet.

What I was suggesting amounts too extending the life of your fleet. in rare cases, with the help of repair bays and assuming the dominas still healed a bit, you could bring a ship back from death, but the way i was thinking of it, it would be rare because you'd have to overcome all the damage you're taking while immortal and in the timeframe of the power. Basically, the only time it would save ships from death would be near the end of a fight. But during it, they would hang around to do damage for longer, keeping your dps or gaurdians or carriers doing their thing for a little bit more. I mean it'd be great to gaurantee you get to pull off those synergetic combos because they can't blitz a particular ship.

I like this more and more, can everyone think of a way this would be too powerful? an ability combo? Anyone know of a way to mod this in?

I know this thread was already disappearing down the list but this ship really needs some help from the devs.

Just a few days ago I saw my 5 Dominas (woaaah thats a lot of Dominas for me, normally ZERO is about right) all target a single Halycon for repair and the hull hadn't even been damaged.

I mean WTF. Currently the Domina's targeting is like handing a blind twelve-year-old a machine gun, spinning him around several times and then telling him to hit the can on the wall 200 hundred metres away.

Its like its some sort of cruel Advent joke: "Hey *snigger* lets fill the bridge of our Subjugators with MONKEYS or RETARDED LIMBLESS SPACE TURTLES for this battle and see how they react!!"

The abilities of this ship arnt even that bad!! Please devs... a couple of code lines here... a few changes there... and BAM

Yes there are targetting problems, and they aren't specific to domina, but the nature of the abilites of this ship make it probably the most affected by these problems... Currently having more than one domina and leaving them on autocast is no more effective than having only one. On top of that currently there is a Suppression bug that really doesn't help even when you want to take the time to manage them manually...

I hope that the patch team does something to help out the Domina. If they aren't fixing the general auto-cast targetting AI, something really should be done to this ship to help it out. Any ideas?

How about keeping it a channel, but allowing it to move? to make it work, might have to disable the need to face target.

We'll be addressing the Domina, but after investigating it, the issue is actually more involved than we first thought. Fixing it should also resolve a few other issues as well, but we're still looking at the best way to go about it.

Honestly, we don't know yet. It may be after the v1.2 update.
