List of Bugs

Can players gather up a list of bugs in the game so that I can beat someone over the head with it for the patch?

Ones I know of:

Pirate Base upgraded population has no population growth.

Orkulus Debris Vacuum will not unlock second level when second upgrade is purchased.

Mesh Error.

Buffs like Incendiary Shells cancels itself out upon next shot's firing, but does not reapply until the next shot hits.

Orkulus Phase Gate does not work at stars.

Starbase trade upgrades do not work at stars.

Nano-weapon Jammer autocast bugged? (Found that one in some old notes of mine...)

Here's an annoying bug that shows up in online multiplayer games.  Oftentimes a player on the losing team will quit the game but the game won't notice it or won't acknowledge it.  So the players on the losing team may have all quit and be waiting to set up the next game while the players on the winning team are still playing and screaming at whoever is shown as not having quit on the Network Window to quit.  I've seen this happen numerous times.

/w "DirtySanchezz":   Why don't you call it gg?  Don't be an asshole!  Your team lost.  It's over.

/r of Me to "Sender":  Uhmm, I did quit the game.  I'm in the chat channel for the new game now and we're all waiting for you guys.

/w "DirtySanchezz":  The Network Window says you're the only player on the losing team who is still in the game.

/r Me to "Sender":  Another Sins bug.  Sigh.

The bug Sanchezz is talking about does exist I run into it about in about 1/8th of the 4v4 or 5v5 online matches I play.

There is a rare bug where your ships will try to get to another grav well by using their normal engines instead of jumping.

The advent carrier cap will not gain a squadron until you leave a magnetic cloud (if you're in one) when you put skill points in the ability that gives it more strike craft squadrons

Pacts with AI being accepted then immediately rejected then immediately accepted again on & on. I believe the values set in the Gameplay CONSTANTS file under playerDiplomacyAIDef are the cause.

I've never heard of or seen that one before, but it sounds horrible.  It would be a game killer.

Not really. I've seen it a few times. Its very rare. Plus you can usually, bare minimum, scuttle the ship (have only seen it happen to strike craft and frigates, no caps yet) but I've only had to do that once. Most of the time you can pull them back or reorder them and they jump just fine.

Ima preety sure we managed to get a sova and an akkan lost in the void between worlds in that one ds game.... or were they just following a lost frig?

hehe. either way. fun times.

Ive gotten a Sova that jumped so far out of the grav well it was untouchable except for SC. Yeah Stant hated me for that.

The normal engines way out of grav well bug dates all the way back to beta.. that was a fun one. It has been mostly squashed and is very rare. If I remember right, one of the causes was when ships were chasing trade ships that jumped out. I guess the game wasn't cancelling their movement orders and they tried to slowboat it to the next grav well :P

Wasn't there another ability with the nano jammer bug? I don't remember what it is now, but it was also going off on its own whenever the cooldown was up.

Here's another bug that needs fixing -- overlapping planets in randomly-generated maps.  The engine needs to be fixed so that a certain minimum distance is required between all planets.

Here's a minor bug that I am dealing with that really bugs me.  My keyboard bindings for the function keys won't work!  I believe I lost the bindings after I hit the reset button, and now I can't restore any of them.  Anyone else have this problem?  Or know how to solve it?  I am using Vista, with nothing running in the background, that I know of.

Wow, that bug is about 2 years old.  I think I remember Blair saying it would be way to hard to implement for a quick patch.  Perhaps this v1.12 will allow the fix to happen.

Yes, and you paid a painful death for it.

Run the game, click on options and go to the key bindings tab.  You can set and change them from there.  If that isn't working, you can go to the folder  C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting  and access the file uimappings.setting and change things manually.  The diplomacy setting files are there too.

The best we can probably hope for is that it won't happen in Sins 2.

Here's a relatively simple one: strike craft aren't affected by armistice, and continue to buzz around and shoot each other for the duration.

Darvin is it possible they do this outside the range of armistice? I never noticed armistice not working for strike craft and given their speed and the fact that people are less likely to specifically tell them to stay in range of armistice they might just leave it to keep fighting.

It's within the range of armistice.

It is a bug. In DS we fixed it.
