Could heavy armor affect strategic and tactical movement?

Could the heavy armors have a penalty to strategic and tactical movement, and the light armors have a bonus?

(This may have been mentioned before, but I think if lighter armors could move further and heavy armors have a penalty to movement, ie. lower strategic movement and a higher AP cost for tactical movement, this could provide a cool partial counterbalance to the "always get the heaviest armor you can afford" problem.)

Along with some minor but influential changes to the way armor works in combat, this could be a really cool feature for the game. =)

After all, how many games have heavy armor wearing units move at the same speed as lighter armored units, and have armor negating all damage? ;-)

Best regards,
Steven.

PS: As an aside, I think it would be better if high level magical equipment (especially armor) had a prerequisite of high level mundane equipment too, so you couldn't just rush Magic and avoid the need for mundane equipment.

yeah i think that everything you wear should affect your AP or atleast your movement AP.  some things should give bonuses to it and others should give negatives.

This is how it used to be (negative combatspeed on heavy armor), and it was pretty damn boring to be honest. To get a heavy armor dude working, you had to use a mount and some charms and weapons with added combatspeed.

Anyway the AI had no idea how to attack the problem.

I'd say strategic movement no, tactical movement and DEX loss yes.

However, the amount of tactical movement loss should be reducable by high STR.  (yeah, I know STR is OP right now compared to the other stats)

Combat speed loss on mounted units should be based on the mount.

Armor should always be an advantage over no armor, but that advantage should reduce the more DEX you have relative to your STR.
