Could anyone who had been modding heroes plz help me a moment

I'm currently going over the leveling up rules and am writing up a suggestion for how heroes could be improved but there is one detail that is eluding me at the moment.

The piece of the puzzle that i'm missing is the difference in hero's spawned by the different hero techs. I believe the higher level heroes have more stat points, hp and levels plus certain key abilities that are only available to those spawned at specific hero tech ( i will call them basic staring heroes, recruiting heroes, hero tech 1 hero tech 2 hero tech 3 ( i think 3 is legends)

abilities like adminitration, 20% farming boost, domination, crushing blow, that ice blast guy (he's my hero) etc etc

If you guys could put a list like this together i would bow down and worship you.

Do it yourself. It's all in CoreNPCunits.xml. Each unittype may have one or several of these

<SelectedAbilityBonusOption>History_Adventurer</SelectedAbilityBonusOption>

those link to the ability or characteristics of the character. Search the game files to find out what it specifically does.

Thank you heavenfall that info helps me a lot i didn't know where the info was.

EDIT: You know. Know that i think about it, heaven, you respond so quickly on the forums i'm beginning to think you are secretly one of the staff from stardock using remote login to hide their identity. Froggy is that you ?

Ok to follow up on this i can't seem to find a file named "history_adventurer" after looking through most of the xml files. I see there are some interesting things that have not been hooked up - not sure if they are new, some of them are not. Interesting references to things that are almost there but i guess didnt make it into.

I'm sensing a little bit of spaghetti string programming :)

I see that at one point heroes had a max level of lv 15 - was this true for army units as well ? does this lv 15 max still ring true ? is there a max level or does it keep going. I can't seem to find an xml with xp requirements. I notice that the sovereign gets 10% xp from all units - this is very much close to the chest here it should have been better listed. He seems to get this xp injection when those units level.

I found 3 references to food resources that are not in the game

i see a reference to max number of children

i see references to bonuses for capital cities.

neat stuff here.

will keep looking.

Must be an internal tag for an xml file somewhere.

EDIT: i think i figured this out just after i close my browser. I think history adventurer is an internal file which is generated when you start a new game and is unique to each game you play - this way heroes have some random ability each game, although the list of abilities is not that big. Some heroes have defined abilities and some heroes have a tag which generates a random ability

No, there are a few different xmls which house abilities. Check AbilityBonuses, CoreAbilities, SovereignHistories, and SovereignTalents.

I have currently looked closely at a "ability bonuses" "sovereign abilities" and core abilities". I had to stop look because my mother in law was over... interfering witch

i will dissect more xmls tomorrow.

I did private message someone on staff for some info but that was late friday evening and we will see what comes of that, so i may delay posting my info until tuesday since i want to give them a chance to think it over.

EDIT: also the way core npc unit formatted in my word file it is 175 pages so i have to edit out all the fluff before i print hard copy on that  :|

That was a big xml file

Hey Glowing_Ember, you mustn't confuse the purpose of the <Milestone> tags. They do not determine what stats a hero will have when he levels up - only what stats he has when he spawns.

no i did not think that there was something that determines what a hero has when they level up  ^_^

err milestone tags ? I'll come back to that looking at some xmls right now.

Making progress, i'm going to put the info in a spreadsheet tomorrow. I've took out all the xml tags and brought the page count of info down to 50 from 170.
