Horrific News

I was just getting all revved up to watch the wild card playoffs when this horrific News of a shooting came across the wire. I'm not all that familiar with Gabrielle Giffords, but it seems like shes a good old fashioned Democrat and an all around good lady. Reports say she was hit point blank in the head. Now reports that she has died. This is a sad day. I hope they give this cowardly killer a swift trip to the electric chair.

they say you don't know what a teabag is made out of until it's put in hot water.  Looks like this teabag's contents have been exposed and it's found to be quite tasteless.

Typical hate of the left, just look at it.  And for the record you were removed for your personal attack.

Oh, but one side has a major Jones on for finding it where it doesn't exist.

Pathetic CNN is in full-on burn-Palin-at-the-stake mode this afternoon.  Had to sit through a half hour (in the barber chair) of what they call 'news', including a phone interview with a Pennsylvania representative (D, of course) saying that publishing political images with 'crosshairs' should be a federal crime and he was going to introduce legislation to make it so as soon as the House reconvenes.  Of course, after that half hour of ad hominen attacks, made without a shred of evidence to support them, in the last sentence from a 'special' report from a DC correspondent, she mentions, OBTW, we still don't know the perpetrator's political leanings or whether they had anything to do with the attack.  So the preceding half hour was just a bunch of unjustified pointless bashing of someone we don't like, because we can, I guess.  What douchebags.

Another fine example of fact-free moralizing (by the Chicago Sun Times).

A good take-down of some of the idiocy and hypocrisy on the left.

I just wish Palin's web team would have left that 'cross-hairs' page up - they had nothing to be ashamed of and no reason to take it down, though I realize, politically speaking, there was no 'good' option.  The leftards would jump on either decision, and have not proven me wrong.

Probably the best assessment of the media/left feeding frenzy going on I've read so far.  And the most pointedly valid comeback.

And the most pointedly valid comeback.

Yeah, after all this outcry its somewhat ironic that the shooter is generally being described by his classmates as a left wing pothead. Looks like lots of foot in mouth to go around.

The night news crew (NBC local affiliate, anyway) has gotten the talking points memo - the meme is to be 'Crosshairs vs. Compassion'.  In other words, 'Whatever the motive involved in this shooting, whether it has anything to do with political 'vitriol' or not, it has ignited a debate about political vitriol, so we're going to focus on the debate we've chosen to believe we've successfully ignited with our blood libel'.

What a crock of intellectually dishonest dogshit.  Not unlike the 'Doesn't matter if the Killian memos are fake, it's the questions the fake documents raise that matter' garbage.  The people pushing this blood libel have no shame.

I think Sarah Palin has to answer why she put REp Giffords district at "crosshairs". This iis an open incitement to violence and there is no excuse for this conduct. To trat political adversaries as enemies to be put at the cross hairs of a gun sight is to say the very least uncivilised.

Bahu:

It's not an open incitement of violence.  Crosshairs are a symbol used by many as indicators of a location.  Only a person with limited intelligence would connect her image and the shooting.  By the way, the DailyKos and other lefty outlets also "targeted" Giffords, but I don't see you obsessing over them.  Why is that?

Once again, the shooter was a nut, and after that he was a liberal nut.  I'm not blaming the left but the fact is the guy is liberal.  I doubt he cared for anything Palin said.

This is a map from a democrat.  You won't see this in the news though.

I took a look at what was supposedly his MySpace page before it was taken offline. Lots of anti government rambling and just straight rambling. Might as well throw out all the political labels on this,

A calming voice of reason.  Thank you Smoothseas.

One thing I have found with the idiots in the MSM - they will push the stupidity of hate from the left blaming the right - but they will not print any evidence that indicates perhaps the wingnut was left.  As Smoothseas and DrJBHL bott pointed out - crazy is crazy.  They do not belong to an ideology as they do not have that much rational capacity.

Which makes our local pundits a lot smarter than any of the idiots in the MSM.

Why did/do you not demand the same of the DNC?  2004?  Hypocrite?

Why? So that the hard left can use it to their political advantage? This kind of thing could have happened to a rep on either side. Both sides need to look within and find a way to lower the rhetoric instead of continuing to manipulate situations to point a finger the other way. The level of anger and rage in this country can not be faulted to one person. There are way too many individuals, groups, events, and situations that have led to such a hostile political and non political environment.  Over time we will get a glimpse of what this kid may have been exposed to and what has happened in his life over time that made him snap this way and how he fell through the cracks.

Sarah Palin has nothing to answer for. Anyone who claims so is just another despicable vulture committing blood libel. Qualified props to Matt Lauer, no friend of the right and someone who usually makes my teeth hurt, for taking one of the vultures to task this morning on Today. Had to do a double-take. But can't rule out it being just a clever setup, since the come-back was that regardless of the shooter's motives this is an issue we must confront, yada yada. Much like it didn't matter the Rathergate memos were fake, they've got a job to do and they're gonna do it.

The concept of 'collective culpability' underpinning their argument is complete bullshit. That is simply an untenable assumption and insulting to all responsible people of free will.

If you are pointing to my reply you have seriously misunderstood it. In layman's terms what I mean is that there are way too many things going on in the world and so many sources of media that you can't simply point a figure at any individuals (other than the shooter). In other words this guy took millions of pieces of info from people, tv, music, the web, whatever, etc. and his brain processed it in a seriously dysfunctional way.
