Zarksoft Games announced Empire of the Eclipse a new MMO 4x Real-Time Strategy Game for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad in a press release submitted today.

Interesting market move made by Zarksoft. To my knowledge this will be the first true 4x MMO Space Strategy Game (I don't count Eve Online as a 4x game) and the first specifically made for the Apple iOS family of devices (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad). Are we witnessing the birth of a next generation of space strategy games, made for the masses (MMO) and for mobile devices?

The game is scheduled for release in Q1 2011.

FYI...this just got approved by Apple a few days ago and should be out imminently. $2.00 USD is the price I heard and for an iPad/iPhone game looks incredibly perfect.
