Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Greetings!

On behalf of the team at Stardock, Happy New Year!

2011 is going to be an amazing year for Elemental fans! Kael and his team have some exciting things in the works.  We have v1.11 that will almost certainly go out in the next couple of weeks as well as work on both v1.2 and the first expansion pack.

You’ll be happy to know that sales of Elemental have continued to grow.  Of course, December was Christmas season but it marks the third consecutive month of increased sales for the game which bodes well.

Our goal for 2011 is to make Elemental the definitive fantasy strategy game of this age.  A game that fans of Master of Magic, Age of Wonders, HOMM, DOM3, and other great games will be proud to add to their family of classic games.

Thanks to community involvement, feedback, and frankly, Stardock’s independence as a studio (i.e. as both developer and publisher it can set the game’s course without interference), we have a fantastic list of things to add, change, improve, and expand in the Elemental universe.

Moreover, thanks to the growing modding community, we’ve already gotten a taste of some of the great ways we can make each faction more distinct, interesting and exciting along with the game world itself.  In the coming months, the evolution of Elemental will continue.

The team returns on Monday, January 3rd and we’ll have some new announcements right off the bat that we think you will be very happy about.

Happy new Year.

"A game that fans of Master of Magic, Age of Wonders, HOMM, DOM3, and other great games will be proud to add to their family of classic games" should be a pre-release goal not a post-release goal.

I know that "2. Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state." is no longer in the gamer's bill of rights.

But, please, do not release software that you yourself consider fans are not yet proud to add to their collection.

Dude don't troll. Really. I don't know where you got the idea that's not in the gamer bill of rights anymore but whatever. The whole was the game finished/was it not has been beaten to death and I think everyone is sick of hearing of it.

I get my idea from http://gamersbillofrights.com/ where point 2 was changed in 2009.

And you miss my point. I am not saying the game is unfinished, neither do I wish to discuss such already beaten horse.

My point is that a CEO should not release a fantasy 4X strategy game if the CEO himself (not me) considers such game does not yet meet the goal : "A game that fans of Master of Magic, Age of Wonders, HOMM, DOM3, and other great games will be proud to add to their family of classic games".

Many of the points were changed for clarity. In any case they believed it met the goals at the time.

I can see how point 2 was changed to not conflict with the other points.

What we need is a chef Gordon Ramsey for gaming.  Put the food on the hot plate, the head chef inspects it.  And if it is not up to par, it doesn't go out; even if it means the people do not get served.  If the whole thing is a failure, shut the kitchen down.  In gaming, this position has been regarded as "unnecessary" and they slashed it.

I wish Brad would have broken the news first...everyone's kinda stolen his wind.

I say it's great news and good luck to Jon! I can only imagine he will do amazing things for Elemental!

.....kinda off topic, but....Wow! He's hot!

The exciting changes is that they hired the guy who made a complete mess out of Civ V and then bailed before fixing it?

What am I missing, why would this be a good thing?
