Fanboys only?

Is there anyone exept fanboys on this forum? I cant explain the fact, that everyone here ignore the huge AI problem. AI is a critical fun factor here, and unfortunatly it cant be fixed fast. Come on Stardock, you know what you need to do.

I'll ignore the rest of the post, but what makes you say that AI can't be fixed fast? What is the thing that prevents AI from improving quickly? Do you have some concrete reason for saying this or is this just a hunch?

Hmm, the AI was totally stupid to the point of being almost inexistent before 1.09o, but it's really starting to look like something. And this game to look like a (somewhat fun) game, not a glorified 3D engine demo with moving things.

Head over to the Dev Journals forum and read the many threads about ongoing improvements to the AI. In the latest patch the behaviour of monsters was vastly improved, to the point players have to change their strategy, or die. Clearly it's being worked on.

Actually, I think most of us are rather disappointed at the current state of the game, however, as with many other aspects of the game, AI is being worked on currently.  Honestly I only fire the game up once or twice per build to see the current state of things.  More important to me than AI right now is the lack of stability.

Trolls like you? :P No one is ignoring the AI problem, which we all can agree that is a critical factor for a singleplayer game like this, and which right now is a work in progress as evidenced by Frogoby posts. It'll take some time and some solid game mechanics but it's coming.

The beta isn't going to be stable. If you want a stable version don't use the beta.  The reason that its buggy is that it allows for a quick turnaround time so they can continously work on features rather swinging between adding features and QA.  The purpose is to implement new features and discover bugs.  A lot of people like to come on here just to wag their fingers at people and I'm right, your wrong, you guys are stupid for liking this.  This post is complaining about the lack of good AI even though the journals talk about how they are specifically focusing on the AI.  I seen another post where somebody uses an old save, even though there directed not and then they start moaning about glitches.  The sense of entitlement is enormous. You have every right to complain about bugs in 1.1 but its not there yet.

Yeah, definatly they know what to do. And if you read dev. journals you can see that they (especially Brad) working on it. So...whats the problem? Right now with the 1.09o Beta there are noticeable AI improvements. Of course only if you want to see them...

1.0.9o is the first time ever I have walked up to an opponent's city and then had to turn around and go back.  I've noticed significant AI improvement in the first 30 turns... can't get past 30 turns because of the Level 3 issues, but that's another story.  :-)

Just to let you all know, the next meeting of Fanboys Anonymous has been pushed back till after the release of 1.1 as a result of the testing of the BETA versions, which as all Fanboys need to remember, are not actually called Perfectly Working Superfun Nerdgasm Machines. I'm looking at you Sethai, take off the rose-coloured glasses.

Also, just as a heads up to the early-meeting minutes, our Lor-.., ahhem our friend Brad has politely requested that those community members who stand guard at his office-building please go home, as security is already very well handled. Failing that, he asks that you lose the spears.

Are you playing the beta? If so you would know the last patch was a big step forward. However with features, items, spells and systems still in flux for 1.1 I wouldn't expect the AI to be at it's best until after 1.1 has it's offcial release.

P.S Ignoring the whole fanboy nonsense you opened with.

This is a bullshit thread with you reading only what you want into the forums. You are literally becoming upset about your own delusion. There have been SO MANY threads talking about AI problems (from fanbois or no fanbois) that to claim that we all "ignore" the problems is just ludicrous to the point of insanity.

I suggest that you try to re-evaluate your opinion of the forums based on an objective starting point, instead of throwing your assumptions into the mix and working from there.

tl:dr; You've got no clue.

Edit: Here is a good starting point, if you are actually interested in basing your opinion of the forums on facts, not make-belief. https://forums.elementalgame.com/400729

Ok, i see, everyone have level 3 city problem, think that there is "noticeable AI improvements". Other people dont play, just read journals i think. There is no noticeable changes in AI since v1.00! I dont have level 3 problem (clean 1.09o install), and i dont care about journals. I see the game. I have played 3 1.09o games, on 3 different size maps, AI with various difficult, with revealed map. The only thing AI have - strong guard sovering in the city. Even if you have level 3 bug, you can just start the game, reveal map, and watch every AI step. You will be suprised.

If you don't have the level 3 problem, you're not playing the game for long enough.

If you haven't noticed the difference in the way monsters behave, you're not watching "every AI step".

If you don't care about journals, you're ignoring the fact that Stardock are doing exactly what you're asking them to do.

He just wants attention...hard enough to understand what he is trying to say.

How long do you have to play?  Is it going from level 3 to level 4?  I have two level 3 cities on a 12x8 (large) map, season 438 started against 6 opponents all set to challenging AI.  I cleaned out my old troop and sov builds data folder after having frequent crashes last night when I first got patch 109.o.  Played 3 hours today w/o a CTD and only two tact battle hang ups that I could auto-battle out of.  I had the AI for Umber send an actual army of darklings at me instead of single peasants or pioneers.

I lurked for several months and only bought the game in late October after the release debacle as I remember the magic SD worked on their Dark Avatar expansion for GC2 and two free expansions from SD made the risk worth it.

Now I am very pleased with the direction the game is headed, so sign me up for the fanclub and free bimonthly newsletter too!

Actually... I did kill a few trolls attached to the last wandering bandit stack I attacked... I guess the AI is improving!  :annoyed:

I'm not much of a fanboy, I'm as likely to praise Stardock and the game as I am to bitch and moan about it's faults.

It's true. He does. A lot.

same here... fanboy and troll all rolled up in one.

Incidently, the Trowls Synonymous meeting has been altogether cancelled, as the mass rush of fanboys has caused the bridge to collapse. Sadly, we lost SolidSmooky in the carnage of the wreck, may he rest in 2 beats, and then come back with the string section of the Treasure Trolls 'In the hall of the mountain king' theme song adaptation.
