Simillaraties between Star trek and Galactic civlizations 2.

I know I already have a post on here that is kind of like this but it is about how to create the star trek ships.but this is a web page to know what do you think the similaritys are inbetween these two universes.

For example

Terran=Federation

Deregin=Klingon

Yor=Borg

Drath Legion=Cardassian union

Torian Confederation=Romulan Star Empire

and a few other's but I was wondering what are the simmilaritys between the two universes?

The was a precursor race in Star trek called Iconians but they were extinct for 200,000 years.

Drath=Gorn

Thalan=Tholian

Korx=Ferengi or Orion

Korath=Elite Klingon warriors

Altarian=ISC

Krynn=?

Every time I see that episode (or one of the others featuring the Trek Iconians) it just comes across strange now. Particularly since I pronounce Iconians with a hard O (i-con-ians, not i-cone-ians).

Torian Confederation=Romulan Star Empire

What.

Seriously, what similarity is here other then that they both have green ships?

Some of your other comparisons are a little fishy. Brad Wardell has stated on several occasions that Drengin do not equal Klingons. They're much nastier even then TOS-era Klingons. The Arceans, on the other hand, have literally been described as "noble Klingons" (in the same dev journal no less). I think of them as a race of Lt. Worfs.

Drath = Cardassians makes much more sense then Drath = Gorn. The Drath are sneaky and underhanded. The Gorn were really kinda insignificant on the actual shows, despite their apparent fan popularity.

The Yor would be much more like the Borg as originally introduced (technophiles with no real interest in individuals unless they got in the way; assimiliated Picard as a one-time thing to create a spokesman) then what they became eventually.

Really, though, any space opera is going to share certain archetypes and features. You can find similiarities between GalCiv and Star Trek just like you can lots of other series or games.

the star trek races would be fun to create.

The Torian were once occupied by the Drengin so they could be the Bajorans.

The Drengin were the occupiers so they could be the Cardassians.

The Korath could be Klingon

Arceans -> Erogians.

Jessuins -> Kazon

Altarian -> Andorian

Iconians -> Iconians

Drath -> Vulcan (manipulation requires logic).

...

Also not Star Trek but:

Krynn -> The Ori from Stargate SG! since their goal is religious conversion.

Yor / Dark Yor -> Cylons and/or Terminators.

Thalan -> Arilou / Asguard / Roswell Grey

An option to play races from one franchises against another might be fun for example:

Star Trek vs Star Con vs SG1 & Atlantis vs Space 1999.

In the next generation, the Klingons are much like Earth Vikings.  Sto-vo-kor where the honoured dead go in the afterlife is like Valhalla.  Gre'Thor for the dis-honoured is like Hel.  The idea of banishment is much like that of viking culture.  Eric the Red was banished for a time.   In TOS, the Klingons were more like Mongol warriors.   I don't know if the Klingon took slaves but they weren't shown to enjoy cruelty for cruelty's shake.  They do prey on the weak though.

Arceans are like Samurai.

The Korath are a bit like the Korh Ah from Star Control II.  They want to wipe out other sentient races.    The use of spore weapons isn't unlike that of Terrans in the Mirror Universe though.

I see the Yor more like Cylons than Borg.  They were first made as servants as were the Cylons or Terminators.   If there is a difference, it is that the Cylons and Terminators were also designed to be mechanical soldiers.  This is not mentionned in their origins.  The Borg are partially organic this is not the case for the Yor.   The mention of the "holy spark" also makes the Yor similar to the Decepticons but the Yor cannot change their shape like the Decepticons.

The Iconians in Star Trek are more like the Ancients in Stargate SG1 or the precursors in Star Con II.  This would make them more like the Arnor of Galactic Civ II.

I wonder who would win Star trek vs Galactic civlizations 2?

I like who vs who threads for some reason.

I like who vs who threads for some reason.

A thread like that would belong in the off-topic section, FYI. At least I think that's the policy.

Yeah I just want to add that here so it does not feel like I am spaming the website because I have asked many of these Who vs who questions but I might post that in the off topic area.
