Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware 1.50 Released

This is a fantastic anti-malware tool that I have used many times to clean infected PC’s.  A major new version was released today with the following changes.

  • Dramatically improved scan speed: up to 3-5 times faster on many machines.
  • Dramatically improved stability of both the scanner and Protection Module (Free and PRO versions, respectively).
  • More responsive: program loads up to 3 times faster, and protection module has lower impact on system resources (PRO version only).
  • New internal detection algorithms enable detection of more real-world malware.

Free and Pro versions are available.

Is there any conficts with this and your A/V program you are running?

Err, the download page still says 1.46?

I'll stick with MSE anyway so I might not've said anything otherwise :)

Very possibly.  Generally recommended practice is to only run one at a time.

I use Avast as my real time, always running anti virus. But as we all know, no program catches everything, so I use Malwarebytes free version for on demand scanning as a hope to catch anything Avast may miss.

Malwarebytes is always able to remove the rogue anti virus that we see afflicting PCs calling itself Anti Virus 2010, etc. I have needed it to remove it from several PCs.

At least with some anti-virus programs the problem is that they check each file you try to access before you access it... this is normally a reasonably good thing. When you want to scan every file on your PC quickly, it means you do twice the job for little discernable benefit, and can get unpleasant conflicts if both find something.

Malwarebytes' anti-malware thingy is VERY good, so I recommend getting it, but disable anti-virus realtime scanning while you run it, and then enable it again when you're done.

been using 1.50 beta for some time now. Nice to see it's finally been released as a full update. Great program and i have never seen it cause any problems with other antivirus software. I use it as an on demand scanner and not as a "all the time" program
