Desktop X

Can I run DX as an alternate shell as Litestep or do I have to start it from explorer all the time?

Thanks in advance

I think you have to start it all the time (not sure though). If I'm not mistaken, it is meant to enhance the shell and I've heard Froggy say it could be used with LiteStep with no problem.

Thanks, for your answer. I take it as if i can't start DX directly from a shellselector (e.g litespawn), I have to use explorer in the background?

Yep, maybe DesktopX has a "run at startup" function to have it start automatically, or else you could stick it into your Startup folder and it will be started automatically.

That's bad since startup time is pretty stiff already. Maybe that option could be implemented in future versions if it's not present at the moment? Thanks anyway.

I like the atmosphere on this messageboard

Desktop X does have a "run at start-up" option.
But it is most definitely a shell ENHANCER, and not a REPLACEMENT.

Well, you can always run it on top of something else than Explorer. Setup a minimal LiteStep theme and run it on top of that or so?
