Better today, though I expect...
Traffic was much better today. Of course not having any rain falling from the sky helped quite a bit there.
Thankfully the traffic last night, but for a five to ten minute delay right near the end of the trip I had to take. Everything worked out and I (and my daughter) got to the show right on time. By the time we were parked and enterring the venue and lined up at one of the merchandise booths it was almost time for the opening act to take the stage. Shortly after we bought T-shirts and such, and my daughter headed off to use the restroom they had taken the stage and started playing.
The show itself was pretty good. We missed several of the songs that the first act (first of two opening acts, Sons of Sylvia) performed, but could hear them during the wait for the restroom and the walk down to our seats. The second act (Billy Currington) came on about 20 - 30 minutes after we'd gotten to our seats and he put out a pretty good show. After his set, with a special guest appearance (Baby Face Edmonds) it was finally time for the headliner, Carrie Underwood. Yay!
She put on a great show, though yet again along the way (thoughout Billy Currington and Carrie Underwood's performances) we rather wished that we had one of Chuck's (from the TV show Chuck) tranq guns or perhaps a TASER to use on a few of the audience members between us and the stage as they seemed to be of the opinion that their daddy was a glass blower. Seriously, I understand (as does my vertically challenged daughter) that some people really want to dance and have a good time, but I swear, and I know I've said this before, I wish that concert promoters would sell a bunch of standing room only access outside of the main seating areas with the expectation that the seating areas will primarily be for seating.
There were a couple of total eclipses (I don't know what else to call them) where some large and large headed individuals completely obliterated the view that I should have had. I really didn't want to do the same thing to people behind me and even with me sitting in the seat trying to watch on the screens on the side of the stage, the view still was blocked out when it shouldn't have been.
Thankfully, for much of the show it really wasn't that bad, but yet again I was left feeling sorry for my daughter because she really does have a tough time trying to see over everyone that might stand in front of her. I really should get her a periscope for use at concerts, but I suspect many venues would never allow such things to be carried in any more. ![]()
Anyway, training continues. 2 more days of long commutes after this. I'm supposed to catch up with a good friend tomorrow or Friday. He lives near the training center so it offers a chance to catch some dinner with him before taking the ride home. Usually he ventures down my way, so it's nice to get to visit with him without making him travel.
Hopefully everyone has a great Wednesday ![]()
