Game does not launch

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

When I try to launch the game I get the following message,

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I am led to believe this has something to do with VC++.

I am running windows XP Pro x64 sp 2.  I have installed both of,

x86

but, it still give the same error message on launch.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

kyro has stated that elemental is NOT supported on xp 64 bit and microsoft itself has stopped support for the 64bit windows xp, so it is unlikely that the cause of your difficulty is going to get fixed, and even impulse is NOT supported to work on winxp 64bit, BUT elemental IS supported on both vista 64 bit AND win7 64bit, and from personal testing I MUCH prefer win7 to vshita.

So, cleaning out my place today to move to a new house and came across this game at the bottom of a box STILL never played.

Has a fix to this ever been put out?  Can I run this game yet?  Or did I waste $50.

There is a 1.4 version that is pretty good. Did you preorder or buy it on release? If so you can get into the Fallen Enchantress beta.
