My reign of terror has come to an end.  Now, Kael’s reign of terror begins. :)

I’m not disappearing entirely but after v1.1, Derek Paxton (Kael) will be calling the shots on the day to day on the game and design implementation (at Stardock, the Project Manager aka Producer is the god of the game).  I’ll be returning to my traditional role at Stardock on our games (AI and high level design input).

We’re working to get a beta of v1.1 out the door as soon as possible so people can start seeing the improvements we’ve been making for the past few weeks.

With that said, it is my honor to introduce you to Derek Paxton.  Prior to joining Stardock, he was a Project Manager at Novell and known to many gamers as the creator of the Civilization IV mod expansion, Fall from Heaven.

I hope it's this Thursday. Can you have 1.09e and 1.1 installed at the sametime? I got a huge war going on right now and don't want to loose the save game for the beta but I want to try out the beta!

The 1.1 betas won't be compatible with 1.09 so you'll likely want to wait. The game rules are dramatically different.

No, the mod tools really haven't been touched yet. That's all going to end up for the expansion pack and a lot of mods going forward will be web-based tools (XML-wise ) so that you can access "your stuff" from any machine but that's a different discussion.

Thank you for all your hard work.  I already enjoy Elemental immensly and look forward to playing it for many years to come (Like the next 20).  Very few games come out that capture the magic of the games of yore, Elemental is one of the few I've played in years that seems to immerse me into an exiciting world where I can loose myself for hours.  Kudos.

Major changes AFAIK is global mana , population treated like a resource and economy is now tied to population.. theres previous posts in dev journals  that go in more depth.. if theres anything i forgot feel free to add to it.

It will be very interesting to see if Kael can polish this little piece of raw software into an awesome TBS.

While releasing Elemental unfinished was a disasterous decision, hiring Kael might very well turn out to be a brilliant one.

Excellent, good news all around. After the last months of tribulations, I will not be submitting myself to this round of Beta, but I wish the team well and am looking forward to seeing 1.1 when it comes out (hopefully in early January?).
