[eMOD] ExpandedMounts 1.14 for 1.3

First, let me express a big THANK YOU to Akil Dawkins at Stardock for letting me tinker with their skeletons and holding my hand while doing so.

 

This mod adds more mounts to the game for standard Kingdoms and Empires. They are also added for all the ExpandedFactions, Distinct Factions and Elemental: New Order factions.

Added compatibility to mods ExpandedFactions, Distinct Factions and Elemental: New order. All mounts are now available for each faction with this mod installed. All added mounts use standard values only. Note that some mounts will be duplicated because of this.

Dragons are only available in the shop, and cannot be used for units (they have normal stats). Fixed compatibility with EF faction Living Stone.

Replaced the standard horse skeleton to make the rider actually sit in the saddle. For a comparison before/after, see the pictures below. This was applied to core horses and horses from this mod. Other modders will need to apply the skeleton themselves to their mount xml.

Replaced the fake skeletons for drakes and slags with a modded proper version, this means animations look a lot better for those mounts.

It occured to me that I can use the same method to fix the horse skeleton mount position. See the original post for comparisons. Note that I've changed the horses in this mod, and the vanilla game. Other modders are free to use the skeleton, of course, but they'll need to update their own mods (I won't overwrite someone elses mounts). For ExpandedFactions, I will update the remaining horse skeletons in the next update of that mod.

Looks like I forgot to hook a model up way back, the armored sandbrute. I won't do a release for him because I get the feeling we're nearing a release of 1.2 for elemental and that will require an update anyway.

Love all the new models, something about having elves archers riding deer that screams "fantasy stretgy game" for me.  Something I have been wondering about for awhile, would it be possible to unlock the Wargs/ Horses resource for both Empire and Kingdoms?  The artificial break between which resource is useful for you has always felt forced to me.  Why wouldn't the bad guys ride horses?  What do the good guys have against using giant angry wolves against their enemies? 

I think this could also make the mounts play more interesting; wargs could give a bonus to attack, while horses could give an even greater bonus to movement.  Thoughts?

It's possible, of course. I just don't want to use anything other than core rules in this mod. If the AI supported mounts, and the game supported a more varied resource system, I'd go to town on it. Right now it's kind of pointless (it's basically just handing the players more bonuses the AI can't use, which is like a cheat really).

I can understand not wanting to differentiate the mount bonuses, given that it would just be cheese against the AI.  What about breaking the "No horses / wargs" association with faction type?  I honestly think that is more annoying at this stage ( at least until the AI learns how to get a troop to ride something)

Indeed great stoff, good work.

 

But I have a request. Is there any chance to give the armor of the sandbrute and hellbrute a better texture ?

I've see, the armor seems to be from bones, but the texture comes allover in pur white. It would be a better look when you give the texture a little more ivory.

You can edit the mod xml if you only want the horses. Not going to do a separate mod for that.

I understand, it's can be painful to start over or go back to work, it's easy to add than go dig to separate, I had manage deletal most line, but I'm sure I messy up like missing white horse and brown horse where Stardock put there, and warg too, sign....
