New Expansion Pack?

I was looking at the new poll on the Sins Homepage.  It seems that there is the possibility of a new expansion pack; at least, there is an attempt to get an estimation of how the public feels about it.  What do y'all think?  Does anyone have any ideas for the content?

Personally, I'm hoping for a new capital ship or two, with a couple of new frigates and cruisers!

While I wouldn't mind seeing a new frigate or cruiser, I actually don't want to see new capital ships.  The existing selection of five is already on the brink of being a crowd, and any more would be overkill.  The existing selection needs some work, more would only make the problem worse.

    I had a bunch too: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/375601/page/6/#replies

Look for reply #149 towards the bottom of the screen.  If I had known that I would be making this thread, I would have saved them!

Note: The Pirate Tech tree I mention is supposed to be an Anti-Pirate Tech Tree; not one for use by the Pirate faction.  I didn't explain that well in the reply...

What kind of frigate or cruiser did you have in mind?

Well - it would be nice to have a single player campaign - but I think it's probably to late for that now.

To be honest, at this point, I'd rather see Ironclad invest effort in getting a new game out rather than keeping Sins going, patches withstanding. Something fresh - even if it is just Sins 2 with a snappier UI, better graphics, and a few new ships - would do more good, in my opinion.

Well, the way I look at it, the following two things are true:

1) Expansions give IC (and their publisher) a good Return On Investment.  This gives them a stronger financial foundation to work on a true sequel or other projects.

2) Expansions are learning experiences, and the more learned before working on a sequel, the better it will be.

Now, at some point the balance tips and they really should work on a true sequel.  But I think there's room for one more expansion before going there.

I've voiced my concerns about (imo, significant, otherwise I wouldn't have said anything :P) issues with the UI/game experience in the past, so I won't retread that ground.  But I will say that I wouldn't expect those issues to be addressed in an expansion... so it's not as though I'm happy with the status quo!

We don't know that.  Is it possible that the expansions, or at least the last expansion, didn't sell enough to make the cost of production profitable and worthwhile?  There's a reason why the originally-announced third expansion was scrapped.  That may be it.  If the expansions were huge money makers then Ironclad would probably be working diligently to release a new one.

I would like to see either another expansion of Sins2. In any case I would like to see more. :-)

This is a unique game play style mix that has a lot of possibilities. I mean, just look at all the awards this game won!

I believe that the Sins Optimization Project might possibly have 'something' to do with this but I have no concrete information to support or deny that case.

I am all in for another expansion... Having said that i would be all in for Sins 2 as well.

I shudder to think of what another expansion would do to the already small online multiplayer community that plays on the Diplomacy expansion.  Either everyone would have to agree to purchase it or none of us should.
