How do I change the icons of the system tray and running programs?

I want to change the icons of the system tray and the icons of all running programs because they are to small and ugly.

I know it is/was possible in Objectdock 1.9 (see link below)

Just left click and hold on the systray icon you want to change and a dialog box will open. Browse to the icon you want to use and apply.

Sorry but that does not work. I get the menu of the icon itself not the menu of objectdock. If I left click on the volume icon I get the changing of the volume etc.

it's not just left click, you must left click and HOLD ON for several seconds and a menu will pop up allowing you to customize the icon.
