Problems with OD2

I've encountered a couple of problems with ObjectDock 2 when the Windows task bar is hidden and replaced by OD2.

1. When UAC wants to attact my attention, and the Windows taskbar is hidden, OD2 does not flash or even show the UAC icon. This means I don't notice, and whatever app needs attention is stalled.

2. When an open office app is running, OD2 shows an icon on the dock called soffice.bin. It also does not show the running indicator. Clicking on this does not bring the app to the front, but displayes a dialog saying "Windows can't open this file" and asking me to choose a way to open it. I have the option "When shortcut is run, if program is already running bring it to the foreground only" ticked.

I am using Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.

Easy. Completely turn off UAC. That's what I did and I haven't looked back.

 

(BTW, in the game DOOM the corporation UAC is the one who open the gates to Hell.)

If you prefer not to have your computer become part of a botnet then there is something better and more secure than turning UAC off. Instead turn UAC settings down to just display a regular dialog box when you need to elevate a program. This works much better in most every case on Windows 7.
