I have to disagree. Recent history has not proved that to be true.
Ok, your argument is logical to me, and a good one.
I can't stop thinking that the "swing" vote that was so easily "swung" for Obama, and have now temporarily swung toward Reps because the reality of Obama didn't live up to the hype.
But if things get WORSE while Reps are in control of the house, all those swingers will be looking for a knight again, and Obama is in a position to make a bunch of empty promises and influence them. Again.
Most Americans get the news from a major network that doesn't have FOX in the call letters, they won't believe the Dems are responsible because they will be told over and over and over its the Reps fault. Just like they were told it was all Bush's fault even tho the Dems ruled.
Just like they're told tea party people are crazy...racists, etc. The tea party is actually an amazing thing if you think about it. Americans getting involved at the grassroots level. Organizing, meeting, all of it.
Too bad they are labeled ignorant bigots by the majority of the media. (And there are certainly some in EVERY crowd, heh.)
We'll see how it plays out. I would rather see your scenario. I just don't have a lot of faith in fickle voters.
