Not much time to write...

Not much time to write over the last few days...

Another concert yesterday, but it was off in the distance and required a good bit of driving to get to.  Worth the drive as the show was very good.  Since it was an artist (or should I say artists) that I've seen before and posted pics and such of, I'll skip that this time.  Actually I might have had some new videos to post of an artist that I hadn't posted before but that wasn't so easy as the facility had posted signs saying no recording devices and I was politely reminded of that by an usher as I tried to record the opening act's set.  Oh well...

Thursday and Friday of last week were a very mixed bag that snowballed into a horrible start to the weekend and horrible start to this work week.  We had a server crash after the operating system drive in it failed.  That shouldn't have been that big a deal as we had backups, but... things went horribly wrong on installing the replacement drive.  We lost the data from the data volume we have on the server by accident and that necessitated restoring data from backup, except that some of the most important data wasn't being backed up (and we weren't aware of that...)  Our only available backups of two important services/apps are from months ago... many months.  Ugh.

Oh well, that's all for now as my dinner is apparently done in the oven.  Time to get back to some food.

One thing I hate (and the auditors always ding us on) is doing a test restore.  It is SOP according to every Auditors hand book.  I know why, it just seems like a waste of time.

Until you actually need it, as you did.
