Harry Potter

Anyone else here read the Harry Potter books? I scoffed at them for a long while and indeed the first one was pretty kiddie stuff.

But I just finished the 4th book, Goblet of Fire, and I'm hooked.

Any other HP readers here?

Semi-off topic and speaking of a Tolkien-based DXTheme, I wondered what one would like. I just came across a Flash-based Tolkien web site that's really stylish. One wonders how something like this could stylistically translate to a desktop theme. Check it out:

LOTR is the standard fantasy fair. Sure some folks don't like it but some folks don't like anything. I haven't tried HP yet.

Hmm? Nono, crae, I mean "good vs evil" fantasy in the sense of that type of fantasy being "great good vs the sinister villiany" style stories. Things like the Black Company (fans of Myth (Myth, not Myst), by Bungie, will love this book, btw) most certainly do not fit this idea.

The vision of those books, allmost fall off the pages. I have read them, probably 5 times or more.

Ah, that "good vs evil". Most fantasy I read follows that line of thought. One evil foe out to destory the world and such. Guess it's tradition to do it in that style, though I have read fantasy which was quite different from it (rarely).

I wouldn't touch harry potter books with a ten foot pole. Give me some heinlein or bradbury any day.
