Impulse will not install :\

Microsoft Framework 2.0 need? I just installed 4.0...

For some reason or another the installer keeps saying I need Microsoft framework 2.0 even after I installed 4.0. Anyone know why I can't install Impulse again and a way to fix it?

Are you signed on as Administrator?

It's a long shot but have you tried temporarily disabling any AV/Malware apps you have running while you are installing Impulse?

I think you need Shirley here with one of his fix-it links.:)

I can only assume I'm the administrator and yes I have tried turning my AV already.

Install 2.0, .net frameworks are not updates they are new frameworks so Impulse needs 2.0 to be installed, 4.0 does not include 2.0.

If he has Win 7 he's good. Since he "installed" 4 my guess is he doesn't which means he un-installed the old installs.

If 2 is in fact still installed:

http://sd.stardock.com/curthendzell/fix_impulse_installer.reg

Right click/ merge.

http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe

Download/ install.

I have XP and when I tried to install 2.0 it wouldn't install because I got this error.

Error 25015.Failed to install assembly 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.VisualBasic. Compatibility.dll' because of system error: 0x80131107

The second link goes to a blank white page only with what is below on it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\D5D054AEAE590DF48B0BD6E886BF2E7C]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{EA450D5D-95EA-4FD0-B8B0-6D8E68FBE2C7}]

That's the .reg file. You have to use IE.

Is that what you did??

Alright, well it seems all I had to do was delete the folder, v2.0.50727 in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework to be able to install 2.0 and Impulse is now Installed. It was just a simple thing that took me over a week to find out...

It seems there is still a problem. Impulse is supposedly running but it will not pop-up and I can't do anything. Theres a loading box for two seconds and then nothing happens.

Download dotnetfix_cleanup_tool: The current build was created on April 29, 2010.

Download full versions of NET Framework 2 SP2, NET Framework 3 SP2, NET Framework 3.5 SP1 from Microsoft.

Do not install Frameworks 1 or 4, they are useless for you and your XP.

For more information about the .NET Framework cleanup tool, see the following links:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=121918

http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx

Install Cleanup Tool and remove ALL .NET Frameworks one by one then reboot.

Reinstall Frameworks in the order of 2, 3 and 3.5. Do not install 1 or 4.

Then everything will work for you again.

Cheers!
