Cover for a new game

tradional paper and dice but ...

I thought I would share a cover I was asked to create for a traditional paper/dice role game for a small publisher.  Its my first sci-fi cover so I am sure there is room for improvement but I had fun working on it. It's not a PC game but who knows, maybe these guys will convert it to PC some day.  In the mean time, you may want to check it out.

My only real criticism is the two dominant vertical ships. I assume those are the human ships? Either way, the second one, farther off, feels like a pure copy and paste of the first one which is a waste. Showing a different ship, or the same from another angle would have been more fulfilling. But more work on your part, obviously.

That's a good point.  But its pretty retro, and I like that.

That is a pretty good point.  I wanted the same ships to show it as a small fleet, etc. but yes, that is a good point.  I will be making covers for the second and third volumes and will remember that next time. I appreciate the feed back.  :)

The pic looks good to me. I like the cartoon-ish look to it. I don't know what the game is like or how it looks but, will fit well if its similar to the pic.

paper and dice?  Like the old "Stellar Conquest?"  Cool.  Nice cover.  Agree about the two ships looking identical in shape, size and orientation on the page.

For another cover, may I suggest going forward from your first cover.  Perhaps have one of these 'human' ships facing off with an 'alien' ship, both in orbit around (or near) an earth - like planet with two moons?  Use contrasting colors of the ships.  Create visual tension.

Are they, or will they be friendly?  or not?

Would of thought it would of been on a electronic handheld device or something similar. Lots of board games are. Nice box cover.

Can you post an in-game screenshot?  It's hard to determine if the Cover is suitable for the game if I can't see what the game looks like.

Wish I could.  All dice with a set of rules.  I am being tasked to kind of create the look and feel of the game.  Cover art is the first step.  I am working on a medieval game cover now.
