ObjectDock Plus 2 - 1.99 beta [Official Bug Thread]

ObjectDock Plus 2 - 1.99 beta [Official Bug Thread]

ObjectDock Plus 2 - 1.99 beta
-------------------

-Added Explorer-view "Folder" tabs for use on tabbed docks! (Windows 7 only)
-Added new default layout items based on what's pinned to your taskbar (Windows 7) or in QuickLaunch (Vista/XP)
-Added changing the running-program indicator from within the new Settings dialog
-Added ability to adjust the edge-offset of the running indicator
-Added new "Choose Icon" dialog (Windows 7 or .NET 3.5 updated Vista only)
-LNKs dropped a dock now have their custom icons recognized
-Brought back "Quit" menu item
-Improvements to tabbed dock resizing ability (where you can grab it to resize)
-Improvements to weather-docklet accuracy. Fixed issue where it could get stuck with cached results.
-Running-indicator graphic and its edge-offset is now specifiable in skins (a couple examples given)
-.NET assemblies now pre-compiled on install and verified on each OD.exe run, to ensure the settings
dialog and aero peek windows come up as quickly as possible
-Fixed issue where activating Skype from the system tray would cause Skype to hang
-Fixed issue where changing a dock's size while the Bubble effect is enabled could cause a freeze
-Tweaked draggable-tabs (use right mouse button to rearrange)
-Autohiding zooming-docks not functioning ideally on multiple monitors is a problem that will not ever be fixed.
This problem exists in the free version as well and is fully discoverable in that regard. Due to the way in which
the program's visuals are designed, it is simply not possible to fix the problem in a way that would also be
acceptable from a performance standpoint.

I can change icons, but the inability to browse to a new location is aggravating.

Same problem even after the latest update.

OS: Win 7 x64 ultimate

Not sure if these issues have already been reported.

Problems so far:

- There are no running indicators on 64 bit programs

- some program windows are not grouped (suspect its all about 64 bit applications again) - each window is represented by separate icon) although they used to work fine with previous releases.

- icon reflections occasionally  appear on top of all windows

- Aero Peak can not be deactivated through the interface (only by editing settings file), and it doesn't work with "running applications" icons

- executables can no longer be selected in icon change dialog

I get this when trying to change the icon via the properties.

Reduced 74%Original 726 x 593

Still getting this same problem on Windows 7 x64.  If I go to Stardock's default image folder I don't have any problems, but as soon as I try to pick a different folder it gives me the browsing error.

For example, C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus2 is accessible and I can get to these images fine, but I prefer to consolidate my icons in a different location.  When I try to go to C:\Users\Username\My Icons it gives me the error.

Also, I noticed the right click menu for the icons is still the same on my XP machine as v1.0 but is different on the Windows 7 machine.  I was wondering if there was a particular reason for this.

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus2\Dock64.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

This is normal. As far as I know, it's just complaining about C runtime debugging missing, which just provides some extra debug support.

It shows up when Dock is not loaded and hasn't been used in a long time.  Is that part normal?

Dock64.exe must be running (somewhere). I don't see how you could get this error any other way.

Would it load while Impulse was checking for updates at nearly 4am while I was sleeping?

I have asked many times with absolutely NO response from anyone at Stardock. I'll risk wasting my time and ask again:

Can we see a docklet included similar to the categories feature from the Dell dock?

Flyouts are too slow and cumbersom. I personally find them useless. I use the (unsupported) stacks docklet, and I understand why that cannot be included, but please give us a better option than flyouts!

dock icons are resetting back to default after a reboot if the icons you choose are not in the default images folder. i can get around this by moving any icons i want to use to the bundled images folder but having to do that sucks. Changing something as simple as an icon has become cumbersome and pointlesly convoluted. The old dialogue boxes from OD+ 1.9 were far superior. Sometimes changing things because you can just doesn't work. Stick with what works and please go back to the tried and tested ways.

ummm, still w8ing on y'all to implement the flyout menu in a different way, cuz as it stand now, its rather slow and unattractive, but it is a start

I can just say in general it crashes a lot on a Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate version, when clicking on the icons, icon gets stucked, Program crashes.

Furthermore, the Flyout Menu is very slow and not rsponding very well.

• i've not yet had picture viewer or any other program load behind the other windows.  here's to hoping that remains the case.

I have this problem constantly on my laptop with windows 7 ultimate x64. It's a bit annoying.

in the end the only good thing i can say is that, at least it has been very handy to be able to close object dock quickly again, since that's about all i want to do with it currently.

I wouldn't wanna say that. I think it's pretty awesome and a worthwhile upgrade from rocketdock. They just need to put in some more development time in it and this will be a 5-star product.

Is this thread being used to report final 2.0 bugs?

I have the ObjectDock Plus 2 and Visual Studio (2008 and 2010) Taskbar application icons don't appear in the dock.

Just thought I would list it here, if it hasn't been reported yet. Liking the upgrade so far.

Using the latest beta version of OD Plus 2 and XP and having two main issues:-

1. Some icons revert to their original icons on reboot.

2. When changing an icon, and going into the OD library to select a different icon, I select the folder and most of the time only a few of the icons are shown!

This program seems to have been in beta for ages. Would like to hope that these two problems and some that have already been highlighted will be fixed soon.

Question, is anyone having this problem? I can't get the configuration window to come up... I have Win7 X 64 computers about two weeks old... old system was vista 32 and had no probs....

Several bugs, some of them still around from the old Object Dock Plus 1.90:

  • Can't click some system tray icons to get to their menus or launch the UI for them. Two specific icons this gets annoying with: Windows Update Icon and Windows 7 Action Center. This gets to be a problem because when Windows Update Icon appears to say there are updates to install, you have to make the Windows Taskbar appear (if it is hidden) and click the icon there to launch the updates.
  • Tab Docks will display as a big blank white rectangle on the desktop if they are floating. Cannot move or change the Dock when this happens until the floating window somehow magically corrects itself.
  • Frequent crashes. OD 2 also seems to crash the Windows Explorer on a regular basis. Fortunately Windows will restart Explorer and all will be ok for awhile. This mostly happens when changing settings.
  • No way to make the Systray icons smaller than 32 pixels. Really need this one fixed as those big blocky icons look bad and make Object Dock appear fairly unprofessional as a UI enhancement.

Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.

My memory consumption starts at 28mb and increases to 90 something mb and doesnt decrease again.

Is this a known issue?

Only restarting ObjectDock helps...

So has ObjectDock gotten any updates since the release of 2.0 last year? I've been using it, but it seems that after the release there has been no further support or plans to fix bugs.

I believe so. You should check by opening Impulse, then shift+rightclick on ObjectDock2+ and choosing 'Verify Innstallation'.

It would be nice if we stayed with the program concerning the Plus/Minus images and used the relative path to them rather than changing that all over again and just using image names...which defeats the purpose of having them. Seems it should be a simple thing to do rather than make everyone that's created docks for this app to go back and redo everything. I'm really curious why this is happening...it just makes no sense. If your just going to keep ignoring this feature why have it at all?

I don't have any interest in re-installing Impulse just to check on the status of this one application I have purchased. If the developer isn't interested in maintaining or communicating with the paying customers I'll just move to another product.

So I downloaded the installer from something called "Impulse Anywhere," which says it does not require me to install Impulse. However, it Installs Impulse (so they lied again) and it says I don't need to update.

BUT, when I look at the version on the website it says 2.00.072, and when I look at the version I have installed it says 1.99.742.

So apparently there are no updates even though there is a more recent version.

I think I shall go ahead and take my business elsewhere. Stardock is more interested in selling me crappy little games and not with the utilities that I originally purchased from them.

Hello

I'm using currently ObjectDock Plus 2 on Win7 32bits.

I have two problems with tabbed docks :

- even if ot is configured as "Allways on top", some window comes on the top and I have to show my desktop to access my tabbed dock

- names of shortcuts are allways shown on the desktop, if a window is opened I just can't see the name of the shortcut

Does anyone have the same problems ? Does Stardock wants do fix those bugs or is the development of this software dead ?

Hello, I'm using Objectdock Plus2 on my Win Vista 32 bit pc.  Today I've noticed that despite having custom icons for all my dock shortcuts, some of the shortcuts reset to their default despite having the custom icons saved to the bundled images folder.  Not sure if this is a new bug, but are there any solutions to this?

EDIT: Also on the 64bit version of Win7 the Recycle bin menu to run CCleaner has been removed.
