The busy weekend approaches...
3 concerts lined up. Lewis Black (comedienne), followed by a pair of country concerts. Running around all over the place.
I'm most definitely looking forward to all of the above and hope each show lives up to my expectations.
After this weekend, well, I'm looking forward to staying closer to home for a few weekends. It's been a while since I sat at home on a weekend just relaxing. On the other hand, well, I may take some time to go visit my grandmother and spend some time with her. And perhaps catch a movie in theatres (the trailers for Red have me looking forward to that one), though the costs for that may leave me waiting for the inevitable Blu-ray disc release.
Yeah, yeah, I know that I shouldn't be complaining about the costs for theatres given what I've spent at concerts over the last year, but the last few times I went to movie houses demonstrated how ridiculous prices have gotten for movies. While I really hope that movie houses are able to survive and thrive well into the future, I must admit that the expenses of taking anyone out to a movie is really getting to be an insurmountable hurdle. The choice seems to come down to dropping nearly $100 to take an average family out to a film or wait and spend $25 (on average) for the Blu-ray disc which can easily be shared with friends, family and others. Even if I factor in the cost of refreshments at home it is still much less expensive to see films at home on my HDTV and the experience there is typically not interrupted with people too stupid to silence their cell phones ![]()
