XP Metallic DesktopX Theme

Ok, I posted a comment on this skin, but I found the situation ironic enough for Alanis Morisette to write a song about, so I thought I'd make a post here. Sofie, as you may know has released a DesktopX XP theme. It seems that some of the icons she used were the work of Mr. mcs2k1, one of the more popular XP authors, who posted in the comments something to the effect of he is not best pleased. You with me yet? No offense to you mcs2k1, but where exactly did you get the icons in the first place? If you did spend precious hours designing them, you may want to have words with MS, who are planning on releasing an OS with a theme based on your hard work, and actually making money from it too. Again, no offenese mcs2k1, just I found this situation somewhat humourous.

oh dear... Actually marc got the icons [AND graphics]indirectly from my Windows XP Luna Experienced themes. marc assured me that he had no knowledge that they are the graphics files I had used back in those releases that I had done for Hoverdesk and Talisman a while ago.

It seems that the graphics file i made from original icons and which i had converted into graphics, started to circulate around the internet and appeared in a ton of other different Luna XP theme variations. I know they were the files i was using due to the fact that I gave them unique file names and to which none of them was changed in the several other versions I found circulating.

However the similaritys dont stop there as I identified amny of the graphics files I had specifically made for use in my own themes regarding Luna some of which were originating from last March,.

I have to point out that I always gave due credit to Microsoft for creating the Luna XP theme. I never claimed credit for this work and never will. I am all to aware of the issues concerning Copyrights, etc. I no longer will be doing any XP work. I am sickened to death by now of the amount of re hashes and updates that people are doing in the Desktop X section and object Bar sections. which seems to be the worst affected these days.

marc I have asked you, please no more updates. [What did he do upload a version 6] pfft! Talk about ignoring my advice after the help I gave him though. [Im no angel but at least I am now setting things to right]

RaaB, it would be 'pityful' if it wasn't 'pitiful'....Spell checker

jafo! I stand corrected
But what's more pitiful, all the XP rippers ripping one another or sitting around here looking for typos to correct?----

What is pityful Mr Raab is XP skinners who dont realise that there is now to much XP skins and wallpapers on Wincustomize. I have asked them personally to stop doing any more..

but yet more still arrive each day. So what else can i say ?... I know that there isnt any creativity left in Luna skins, and the look is old and no longer Fresh. I see it is the general feelings of many skinners that it isn't helping the community either which I now have to agree on.

Jafo - "pity" would be the correct English spelling of the word. However, I pitty the foo that questions the will of Mr. T, please consider the following evidence:

That gives me a great idea for a skin...

Is it worth another post just to say "hehehe"?

Probably.

What's a [sic]?
pjp....[sic] means 'spelling is correct', that is, the 'error' is deliberate, and not a typo of the publisher...

Cat, after all the times that so many of us have practicaly _screamed_ at XP "authors" to stop uploading this junk, not a one of them had. Do you really thing that if you ask them personally that they would really stop?..*s*

(oh, and pleeaase don't get over offended by that comment. I am in no way atempting to insult you, or anyone else)

Don't listen to her Cat, she "chooses" you, she's calling you out. Girlfight, girlfight, girlfight!

Sacrcasim is not one of your best points, but no, Sylva, They wont stop because i ask them. But i am one of the most longest standing XP skinners which did most of what they are doing now, before them.

I actually dont expect they will stop either. So in no way do i take any offense at your remarks. if you were attempting to insult me then I would honestly want to know why considering the fact that if this were a place like skinz.org then this thread would not be happening anyway. I believe the main goal of the forum was to discuss the XP silver theme and not me.

This is what I am doing and n no way intend to argue about authors. It was a small hope that some XP Authors would actually listen anyway. But if no one is willing to say to theme hey !! Enough is ENOUGH!! then who will. but for some one from there own quarter to say this..

Well they wont listeten to me or YOU Sylva, or anyone else. Because they have a warped justification for the flogging of XP anyway. Even though the small minded dont realise that by the time Windows XP is reall here everyone who buys XP and had used a Luna skin wont want to use that skin any more because it is 'OLD'.

I for one will buy XP for its features, and not for luna. Take it from me. I did a few full Luna theme's, and feel tired of doing them now. For gods sakes I am a grown woman ! not some teenager who can't get enough of that one Boy band or XP Luna skin/appearance. So give me a break and bother some one else

Cat, I already stated that I was not trying to insult you. It was a lighthearted statement, meaning, basically, _nothing_!

Stop being so damn over sensitive and lighten up.

And if you find this statement insulting, too bad.

*runs off to find out whose at the top of the latest boy band craze so I can blast it through the wincustomize.org web-site to all of it's users and dis-able thier volume control*

oh, um, that one up there is for crae. it's his punishment for wanting to see a "girlfight".

Sorry to disapoint you all. But I have better things to do right now and wont participate. Besides It would be pointless. Rather than being constructive in helping this thread it would only undermine the reason for it being posted and take the focus away from the real issues.

Sure but I am english so I spell in British English and not american English spell checking is fine for one part of the world so long as you know which dictionary to apply ! as this a multi national web site, people are bound to use different spellings.

(Just thought i would re-activate this thread) thats the real excuse !
