(I wish I was...) sleeping the day away

After a late night at work last night (with a small break between the regular work day and some additional hours to cover some important work events) I have to admit to being rather tired today.  I had expected to sleep at least a little this morning, hoping to catch a whopping 4 - 5 hours of sleep before having to get up and ready myself for work but apparently my daughter wasn't aware of my plans as she missed the bus and needed a ride to school.

Trying to make lemonade from the lemons that I was dealt, we used that opportunity to have her drive to school which got her some more practice and avoided me having to drive in a still fairly well exhausted state for just a little longer.  True enough, after getting her to school (after she drove both of us there), I still had to take the wheel and drive home, but at least once I got there I could try to go back to operation get more sleep and try to get another hour or so in.

I think that extra hour that I tried for became something like 20 minutes of actual sleep, but I was so groggy that it was hard to tell when I was actually sleeping and when I was just breathing a little heavy in the hopes of sleeping.

Throughout the afternoon I've been feeling the effects of the late night and general lack of sleep and were it not for some scheduled maintenance on a fairly important system, well, I'd have left for home hours ago.  In about 15 minutes (give or take), I hope to be able to complete the work day.  I'll still have about 4 extra hours saved up for use later in the week, which I'll need to use on Thursday as I leave early to go see a show that I long ago planned to catch.  More on that after that event is over.

Meanwhile, I wish the clock would move faster, but it'll catch up to my desires soon enough (probably when my head hits the pillow tonite and then when I wake up in the a.m. wondering how the next day arrived so quickly :( )

Late nights do not bother me too much - as long as they do not make a habit out of them! ;)

The late night didn't bother me nearly as much as not being able to sleep in some in the a.m.  If I had slept as long as I planned to, I'd have been good to go.  Missing out on that sleep (an hour or two total really) just made me tired and grumpy.
