Why my XP wallpaper is available when logged on but not in guest mode?

Why my XP wallpaper is available when logged on but not in guest mode?

Hi all!

I wonder why I can see the wallpaper I uploaded yesterday only when I'm logged on. When I come in not logged, it just doesn't appear at all. Any particular reason why it happens? It's an WinXP theme btw.

Thanks in advance!

yikes..

i use a mac at home, pc at work. when i go to some mac specific wallpaper sites, i see the same sort of thing. tons.. i mean -tons-.. of dtp's with apples in them.. g4s in them.. cubes, imacs, ad slogans, john lennon's beard.. sigh..

i never dl any of them. i already know what kind of machine i have, and which os.. i don't need to advert it to myself. personally, if i ever dl an os wp of any kind, sooner or later i fudge out the letters. it's too much like an 'included' 'default' dt.

on the matter of creativity.. as long as something is based on any company's logo, it's just not very creative or original, no matter how much one does to it.. by definition..

"this is not a competition, only an exhibition - please, no wagering" (& no hard feelings..

ok what if you make some thing for a specific logo that is new and hasnt been used. Might say windows on the box, but the skin is radically different in style to anything Ms or Apple might have thought up. this cannot be called un original, as all it uses is a logo and nothing elese...

Just a thought...

As long as the creator of skin is also the creator of the logo the skin is based on, no, it can't be considered unoriginal.

aah so if the Logo is a registered trademark of like M$ and the skinner uses that logo in their skin design then it would be considered un original ? even though the skin is nothing that Micorosoft or Apple have ever done ? is that right ?

Ms. Cat...the wall may be original, but if a logo is included which belongs to someone else, then the finished product is not your own....

Unless of course, you have the logo's creator/owner's permission to include it, and preferably note the fact on the work...

aahh. thats what I thought Jafo. But still seems odd to think though, as in the example I mentioned, Where you have an original Wallpaper or skin that is nothing Apple or Microsoft have done, but you use their logo, then the rest of the work is concidered un original ? I mean only the logo in this example would have been used !

this seems harsh.

Ms. Cat, for an artwork to be 'original', you have to be able to claim authorship over ALL of the work, not just parts, or the majority of it.
A perfect example is all of the Community Skin projects or the one at Deviant, as well. I did LiteSTEP themes for all three, but the graphics and walls were either directly or indirectly from others in the 'collective', and were not 'specifically or completely' mine.
The graphics in these cases were released for the express purpose of creating the suite of skins, and so we all involved had exclusive rights to use them.
Of course, if I were now to use those graphics in a different project of my own, the permission I had to use them for the CS project would NOT follow on to this latter one.

I feel my brain wandering...so I'll stop...but you probably get what I mean....

thecat if you are not able to have an original wall without that damn logo it's because you are affraid that your wall is not so good.

So if you think your walls are not so good, rework on it until you think it deserves a lot of downloads without that XP logo

I never actually did many XP wallpapers Alexandrie, but I note many who have.. I feel incensed by the way people uploaded their XP wallpapers claiming they are original when in fact they are using the XP logo. Ok so if the wallpaper is original of these Autors who I wont mention by name here, then why did it have to have the XP logo in the first place. I know one of them mentioned that the style they used was nothing anyone else had done.

But I have a deep feeling that they attached the XPlogo for one of two possible reasons, and it is the general feeling of a lot of people on this. That it was to get in to the top ten, or they just have an over zealous enthusiasim for everything XP. Now dont get me wrong I like windows XP but for the new features it offers. I will still use some thing Like Luna until a better XP enabled theme is along. by the time this happens I hope everyone else will have moved on from XP and XP will be hardly downloaded anyway. Except for some new to Stardock programs of course.

Jafo : - yep your right i understand what your saying
