all you geeks, newbie needs advice

Ok, so I know there are some pretty experienced people out there, and I'm a complete newbie... So I have a question and I hope some of you can answer.
I want to try and get into shell replacements, but I have no idea whatsoever about where to start. So perhaps you guys could give me some information on where to start - concerning application (I'd be interested in LS for example), which site to get it from, where to get tutorials or tips from, basically, how to start.
I know some of guys know, perhaps you can share a bit with me little newbie?
I'd realy like to do some skinning on this stuff, I just need a bit of starting help.

Thanks for listening, bananafactor

I always point people towards these two sites...

http://desktopian.org
http://floach.pimpin.net

...not that you'll find any particular tutorials there, but it's a good place to start.

Oh, and when you're off playing with LiteStep and Windows tells you to reinstall Windows, don't listen!

didn't want to insult anyone calling them geek - I just don't speak English normally and geek is a word I like to use for computer people - not knowing how people who speak english use it.
