1.08 hotfix - Broke more than it fixed

Version 1.08 is quite a disappointment for me, as it appears to have broken more than it fixed. After starting a new game, I noticed the following problems:

  • Gone are all the spell, quest, Elementopedia, etc. art
  • Gone is the ability to expand the army and city trees on the left margin
  • When a screen pops up (like the quest screen), the text on the main screen is visible beneath the quest screen
  • Other problems I can't recall at the moment

According to 'View History', I'm running v1.08b hotfix (whatever that is), as opposed to v1.08.  How do I get back to v1.08 to determine if the problems are due to the hotfix?

I agree with the OP! Arrows no longer do damage!  Towns getting renamed randomly. Game stutters allot now.  And just now the game crashed! None of this was happening before .08a or b.  Its almost unplayable   When a person pays foll price, they expect the game to be more polished and de-bugged. Disappointing!

I am running a clean, updated install on Windows 7 64 bit, patched to latest level. Started a new game. What I have noticed is that ranged special abilities of my summoned elementals tend to automatically miss if used at max range. For instance, my big earth elementals cant hit anything with their AOE, and the fire elementals always miss their fireballs. However, my heroes pretty much always hit. If I move up the fire elementals and use their fire breath attack that attack will hit, but the fireball doesn't. Have not tried that with the earth elementals since they tend to get dead if they move up too far. Have not made any archer units yet, that may be my next experiment. I've been playing on Tiny maps for quicker gameplay, don't have the stuttering others report that way. 

 

Spells - I should say my heroes throwing Fire based spells do well, lightning seems to be over-nerfed. If they hit at all it's for negligible damage.

My stone giants no longer hit anything with their stones, and archers are unable to hit anything.
