How much ram...

How much ram do you guys get away with/need to get these graphics off the ground?
I just added 2 x 256 meg chips to my existing 2 x 128 meg...and things are looking good....768 meg, and to think I started with a Pentium 100 with 8 meg and PSP 3....
It's the scanning of pics which really seems to test your capacity....manipulating 150 meg files...

256 using a 1GHz Athlon

My RAM is bigger than yours!

Most of the skins I've made in the Dark Aeons that lie behind us, where done on a p75 with a measly 32M RAM. Nowadays it's got 128M, but if you set your caching right (ie: use CacheMan), you'll only swap at start up or when starting or closing a heavy app.

AT home, I'm still using a P75 (running at 100Mhz) with 64Meg Ram..... yawn....

Work is P3 450, but still only 64Meg RAM!

Ah, but WinBloated 2000 really isn't happy much below 256, although I have a p166 with 64 meg chugging along fairly OK...
I upgraded cos 512 meg cost me AUD $230, which would be about US$55...

Dang....US $105....

Ahhh.. the days of Vic-20's and tape drives (just use you audio tape, eh?) I loved my Vic-20

I think both my home and work have 256 Meg.
Of course, it really doesn't matter since I don't produce anything
