Error message when applying a WinStyles theme

When I try to apply a WinStyles theme I get an error that says:

"An error occurred while Windows was working with the Control Panel file D:\WINNT\system32\desk.cpl." message box then only an ok button.

This is what I do:
1. Properties > WinStyles > Available Themes Frame > Click on any available theme.

My computer is:
Win 2000 SP4
MSI K7N2 Delta
512MB
MSI FX5200 TDR128
Seagate 120 SATA

yes. the reason is that i've been curious about linux - to dual boot with linux and windows linux needs to use the first 100mb. i am going to a lug meeting later today to get linux installed. so i created that drive, installed windows on drive d:.

i also get another error when applying a theme in winstyles itself.

"WinStyles.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

i *dont* get an error when i run the nVidia winstyle they've got featured on the site but all the other styles i do...

also stardock reports that i have all the latest versions *but* all the programs themselves are all old when i check the about box. (windowblinds 3.51 build 861, desktopX v.1.3 build 305 october 13, 2002, etc)

i just purchased and downloaded the program today...

Here's a guess........check your Program Files folder and see how many times these proggies are installed (since you're getting two version #'s my guess is twice). You should not have a Object Desktop Folder. You should only have a Stardock Folder and a Wincustomize Folder. Everything is in those two folders. You'll probably find nVidia file in the right folder (Stardock\WinStyles) while the others are not. If you do in fact have an Object Desktop Folder then un-install all of Stardock's proggies (when everything is said and done delete the Object Desktop Folder, but save your skins first to a temp folder) and use SDC to re-install them...they will go to the correct folders and hopefully all will be well.......
